PUBG's Xbox One Release Date Confirmed For December

Here's when the popular battle royale game launches on Microsoft's console.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds now has an Xbox One release date. During Paris Games Week, developer Bluehole revealed that the phenomenally popular battle royale game launches in early access for the console on December 12 for $30.

Beginning that day, Xbox One players will be able to play PUBG via the Xbox Game Preview program. Bluehole also says that it's "on track" to release the 1.0 PC version in late December. While the developer is working on both PC and Xbox One versions simultaneously, it notes that each has its "own separate roadmaps" and will differ slightly from one another.

"We're approaching development on Xbox One with the same community-driven focus that we've taken with the game on PC," Bluehole VP and executive producer Chang Han Kim wrote on Xbox Wire. Xbox One players will also be able to purchase some exclusive content in the form of special cosmetic packs. Three such packs will be available to purchase for a limited time for the Xbox One version: the PUBG Warrior Pack, Accessory Pack, and Tracksuit Pack. Aside from these three, Bluehole says it doesn't have plans to offer any in-game purchases in the Xbox Game Preview version. You can take a look at a few of the exclusive cosmetic items above.

Microsoft announced that PUBG would be coming to Xbox One later this as a "console launch exclusive" during its E3 2017 press conference this past summer, but up until today we didn't know when the game would arrive aside from a vague "late 2017." Microsoft is publishing the Xbox One version, and it's been reported that Microsoft is trying to extend the game's exclusivity period on Xbox.

Having played this on PC it's a fun game.

Such a shame thou that Philly boy goes back on his words (surprise surprise, bit of M$ media turns out to be spin and lies) as now Xbox has got this as an excluseive for bit loger. Even though Phily boy doesnt like like timed excusives!!! Hmmm I wonder who signs the contracts when a exclusive offer is started..I'm gona going out on a limb here and say Philly boy....liar liar pants on fire.

@xrizz1066: to Philly boys defense, he never said he would stop 3rd party exclusive deals. He did say he will make less deals and the proof is in the results. They just released a nice hardware but lacking in exclusives. so they kind of need 1st/3rd party exclusives. I'm sure Phil saw this and making a deal with this game was a smart move for Xbox. Switch and ps4 make these deals also and I've benefited from all especially on the ps4 side this yr. Xbox needs this because games is most important so they have to compete.

@xrizz1066: something like Kinect was the worsed thing that can happen to a console. Ever since it released on xbox 360, their 1st/3rd party exclusives went downhill. Do you disagree they need more exclusives? I'm all for it. Then maybe I'll purchase an xbox one x.

@xrizz1066: Who cares at least its coming to console ! Il have to wait little longer to play it with my buddies on PS4 but I can at least play with my friends on PC and soon Xbox in the meantime !

Also I believe MS helped bring it to console in the first place and are working with the DEVs !

@xrizz1066: you may dont know but MS put effort,manpower and money into bringing pubg to xbox! And if its right what i heard,Bluehole is about to use Azure servers for the game.

So,its not just pay for exclusivity but investing manpower and technology.

Further,Phil spoke about not liking exclusive DLCs. You better check before you falsely quote someone.

Then there is Phil saying that they will do LESS 3rd party exclusives COMPARED to the X360 era. Less doesnt mean zero,less means less.

Well Xbox users just be aware of one thing since i heard there is cross play with PC. I have seen people showing cheating exploits and cheating tools that game cant detect. When this comes to PS4 i hope it doesnt have cross play with PC just because of that. Thats why im holding off on buying PC version.

@7tizz: Yeah I think that is the route it will go down .. also think they will have specific Controller only servers etc to balance things out ! Mostly though I will just stick to PC or Xbox rather than crossplaying with anyone across the 2 platforms.

PUBG getting a 1.0 release on PC is going to put gaming websites in an odd position when it comes to their Game of the Year awards. Many, such as Giant Bomb, don't consider a game for an award until it gets a full release. But sites figure out their awards early in the month and then release them weeks later, do they take the publisher's word that a real release is forthcoming?
