Racing game Need for Speed Rivals is now available to play through Electronic Arts' subscription program, EA Access, the company announced in a post to its official blog.

Earlier this week, EA announced that Need for Speed Rivals will be added to The Vault, a collection of games you can play for free with a subscription, "in the coming weeks," so its immediate release is a little sooner than anticipated.

Need for Speed Rivals joins existing titles Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Peggle 2, and Madden NFL 25. As previously announced, you can play these games for as long as you want, provided your subscription ($5/month or $30/year) remains active.

EA Access is available only on Xbox One, though Sony hasn't ruled out it coming to PlayStation 4 in the future.

I have the service and think its worth $30...obviously these old games are not worth top dollar like some seem to think but still good. One thing though PSnow is a STREAMING service in BETA

Sony need to get on this ASAP. They didn't consider it good "value" because they wanted to keep taking their cut of sales of the full price game or charge for it on "Playstation Now". Thanks. There's lots of sports games I wouldn't wanna pay full price for but would happily pay a few quid a month for. This is a reason to buy an XB1 for sure.

EA drives a constant moral dilema.

From one side, i deeply hate them... and i mean hatred as in wanting it to die out like a mortal enemy. From the other however... dragon age, battlefield, titanfall, mass effect, in a way nfs, i really like these games... Taking Mass effect as the pinacle, that game series is in my top 10...

So i want them to die... and i want them to live... i want them to be the gaming industries version of schrodingers cat. And that is a pretty nasty mindf*ck for me.

@nazgoroth Do you realize how foolish it is to buy into the internet's knee-jerk, pantomime villain narrative against EA? How are they any worse than publishers like Activision and UbiSoft?

Both Activision and UbiSoft crank out the same games annually, like EA, and engage heavily in microtransactions and intrusive DRM, but the internet has decided the narrative should be to just hate EA.

These are all multibillion, multinational publically owned companies whose sole responsibility is to make as much profit as possible for their shareholders. If you like a game, buy it and stop wasting your energy hating a faceless corporation because the internet tells you that you should.

I've got 5-6 games running through uplay and never had a problem, I installed it at Far cry 3's launch, have played many games both off and online through it and never had an issue receiving earning or playing anything through it. all the companies are money grubbing profit maximising scum but they have to be in order to stay afloat, want future games? buy moar and whine less.

First of all, FCK ALL THE FANBOYS! I'm sick of the M$, $ony and PC Master assholes bull on the comments. I own an X360, PS4 and a gaming rig and I have to tell you, since I moved to PC gaming I am questioning a lot more if I need a console at all... but THIS is a pretty smart move by EA, who knows how may games will The Vault hold up at a time, but as it is right now I think it's a hell of a good value to get access to up to 5 games for $30 a year or $5 a month, they are pretty new games with AAA quality too.


Sorry for my angry rant at the beginning, but I already saw some fanboys of the three mentioned systems talking trash and I needed to write about it. Hope EA will continue to bring value to the gamers, maybe drop Origin? I would love see the DLC-fest go away but it's extremely unlikely, I just hope they give them a fair price though.

I grabbed this today and I am actually quite surprised at how fun (and freaking hard) it is. That adrenaline rush to bank a large amount of credits is pretty full on. Not a bad little racer, and quite rewarding... but I am glad I didn't pay full price for it.
