Leaked Watch Dogs PC specifications state 64-bit OS requirement

Ubisoft's "ultra" specification for Watch Dogs on PC also asks for an Nvidia GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970 graphics card, and an Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370 processor.

Watch Dogs will require PC users to be running a 64-bit operating system, leaked system specs for the game suggest.

No Caption Provided

The specifications, which popped up briefly on Ubisoft's Uplay store before being taken down, were archived by NeoGAF, detailing the 64-bit OS requirement alongside the need for 20GB of hard drive space and minimum, recommended, and "ultra" specifications.

The game's minimum specifications require a DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB RAM, a quad-core CPU, and 4GB of system RAM. The recommended specs are a DX11 GPU with 2GB of RAM, an eight-core CPU, and 8GB of system RAM.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft's "ultra" specs for Watch Dogs recommends over 8GB of system RAM alongside an Nvidia GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970 graphics card, and an Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370 processor.

Ubisoft will released Watch Dogs for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on November 19. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will also be available at launch.

the problem is, we don't know with ubisoft, we haven't seen open world games of this kind from ubisoft before, saints row isn't graphically on par with this one, so we really have to wait till the game comes out, hope it won't run like gta 4.........sh**tiest port alive, if it runs like far cry 3 after tweaks it's ok.

@ramthegamer i don't believe this PC\nexgen version is actually a console to computer port. when i first saw footage it was PC footage. hopefully the current gen version for consoles is just the lackluster uglier lil clone of this awesome looking game.

Some PC gamers just cannot wait to spill their specs to everyone else, and use articles like this to boast. Hey, we get it. You can play the game on Ultra if these are the actual requirements. Good for you. I will sleep better now knowing that some of you will have, "no problem".

that kind of insecurity problem?

Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370??? Right. Why the hell that high end? How about you optimize?? How about you move some tasks to the GPU?

@Trickymaster Yeah. It's weird that the require such a high end CPU and such a low end GPU. I mean 670's sell for like $50 now a days right? Heck, I think I've got one installed on phone. Wait...

Well, when it comes to loss of sales because only a handful of gamers can run it. Im pretty sure there will be a gold, platinum or limited edition version with a lower spec.If they bother to fully optimize it.

@Trickymaster It does sound like lazy optimization considering what we've seen in gameplay videos so far. Not that it looks bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't look THAT good. Anyway, I should be able to run it in Ultra decently, but time will tell. I'd rather turn it down a notch and get constant 60 fps.

@Prats1993 @vannacut Allowing people who buy high end PCs to actually utilize the technology they've paid for - how is that lazy?

It's good to see more games taking advantage of more CPU cores. I'm using less than 10% of my CPU while playing most games so it will be good to see it put to use.

@ZOD777 pc games have a settings page where you can raise or lower almost every graphical setting if needed. those specs are supposedly for the Ultra settings. Low settings would more than likely be able to run on any half-decent system with a graphics card from the last 3-5 years and would be more like the console version.

@ZOD777 The min specs aren't that extreme. You've got to have a gaming GPU, but not a super-high end one. (everyone just about has a 64-bit OS. If you don't spent your money foolishly--whatever you use your PC for). The Ultra specs are high-end, but that's not a bad thing.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL They imply they have 8-core support, which would be fantastic for future rigs (not that many are running 8 cores yet). I have yet to witness a game that fully utilizes my first-gen i7 (clocked it from 2,8 to 4,2 ghz with water cooling). I've been looking for a reason to upgrade it for years now.

@bbq_R0ADK1LL @Prats1993 @vannacut Valid, but they would benefit from larger sales numbers if more PCs can fall within the minimum specs. Why would you release a game that only 20% (arbitrarily throwing that number out there) of PC users can even play? From a business standpoint, it actually makes sense for them to try and get the specs down to playable for more PC owners.

@Sean-Michael Kingston So you need more ram. That is mainly what 64bit does for you, lets you install more than 4GB of ram. 64bit will be useless if you have 2GB of ram installed.

Well 64 bit is okay, but somehow I feel like the next gen will bring us the waste of raw power.... i mean devs can spend less time with optimization. Watch dogs looks great but does it really need an i7 proc with a very strong vid card?

Better game development should mean better graphics, better physics and better AI with nearly the same rig behind. I don't see that big jump in game evolution that would explain this huge system spec requirement step.

Hope when I see the game running i will change my mind :)

@pupi0828 Going from High to Ultra is usually a minuscule jump in visual quality.. but comes at a heavy price in terms of performance. I think its do to poor optimization and an excuse for elite gamers to go out and spend as much money on high end hardware. But regardless if you want to push the 7970 or 7990 or GTX Titan to the max you need an Intel Core I-5 to I-7 Processor. I am wondering how my good old Phenom II 1100T hexacore CPU will handle next gen gaming. games should be more optimized for multiple cores. I will wait to upgrade to see how my old rig holds out.

@Lpedraja2002 You can still hyperthread with an Intel.

I may be more tempted to look at AMD for my next build though. Mainly because new release games will already be optimised for AMD GPUs for consoles. Games like Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs & Tomb Raider took a while for Nvidia to sort out their drivers

@ManosHandsOFate @Lpedraja2002 You're right but lets say that maybe this generation will be fully optimized for AMD hardware, just maybe. It will be freaking awesome, at least until Intel releases cheaper 8 core cpus that kick dust in AMD's face, but price wise I think they'll stay competitive.

@Lpedraja2002 @ManosHandsOFate my FX8320 runs games about 15fps faster @ about 20° cooler than my quad-core PhenomII955 did. the new 8-core is only running 400MHz faster than my quad-core was.

there's a big difference between them.

We, PC gamers, could have gotten 64-bit games years ago. So much potential and great ideas made less impressive along with mediocre graphics.

Alas, we had to wait for the these her consoles to die off. DIE!

Wait, there are games in the past that makes great use of the PC graphics capabilities regardless of the bits they have like The Total War games, Crysis, Bioshock Infinite and LA Noire, so we already did have great looking games, its just not that frequent.

Also, apparently the specs in this article probably isn't true after all. It's going to be lower than this.
