First Pokemon Diamond and Pearl details

Two Pokemons hitting DS next year; additional game also in development for unannounced platform.

2006 will be a good year for fans of Nintendo's Pokemon series. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will be released simultaneously for the Nintendo DS next year in Japan, reports the latest issue of Comic Korokoro. A third game, named Pokemon Ranger, is also slated for release in 2006, although no specific details--including its platform--have been disclosed yet. Pokemon Ranger will have connections to next year's Pokemon movie, as well as the TV anime series.

Comic Korokoro disclosed some first details on Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, which is currently in development by Pokemon Company and Game Freaks. The game will once again be supervised by series producer and Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara and directed by Game Freaks' Junichi Masuda. Also handling the graphics is series art designer Ken Sugimori.

According to Masuda, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will take place in a new land, although it will feature pocket monsters from previous games. Sugimori comments that the game's developers are currently thinking about the all-new Pokemon that will appear in the two games, and they're also trying to come up with the designs of currently existing Pokemon in their evolved and pre-evolved states. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl won't have any additional monster types (currently there are 17), although there will be additional pocket monsters that are combinations of two monster types. The Pokemon from movies will be in the game as well, and they're said to make their entrances in surprising ways.

Masuda revealed that they usually work on the beginning of the game at the end of the project. He pointed out that the openings for Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire for the Game Boy Advance were redone many times, and the number of selectable pocket monsters at the beginning of the game kept changing.

Both Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will have connectivity to the Pokemon series for the GBA and GameCube, and users will be able to port their pocket monsters from previous installments to the DS. Masuda also commented that he expects the games to use the DS's Wi-Fi capabilities to connect simultaneously with 16 players and that the touch-sensitive screen will be employed during gameplay.

I don't have a DS, but I have played Coloseum, and Stadium1, And I don't like how long the battles take. IT has to go into the screen, watch em throw them out, and then also run around while they attack. RSE never did that. Emerald a little bit, but its much faster. I kinda would like to more of a - New Super Mario Bros styles, where you have 3d graphics in a top view world. And they should keep connectivity through the games, such as in RBY and GSC, you can't really get your 'good guys' into a better game. So, since I have a lv. 100 tyranitar, it would be nice (If I had a DS and Pearl or Diomand) if all new pkmn games had connectivity, but I see how some don't. (I know that RSE can connect to Pearl Diomond)

how can u guys wanna change the way pokemon has always been played. making a 3d rpg but with pokemon stadium battle scenes isnt the way were used to playing pokemon. if they make the same as usual type of game and just make the story line longer and make u more involved in it and more gyms to battle at then that would b a great game.

I was also one of these that really hated Pokémon. But I did really like the anime though... anyway, one day i got Pokemon Gold... man, I was like.. "whoa!". So i trained my start-pokemons to lvl 100, then i got Pokemon Ruby and did he same thing there. Pokemon is a great series of games... But the game I'd like to see is just the one that ELFCommander88 said. I've wanted a game like that for several years! A game just like the RPG-style pokemon the the Gameboy but in 3D where you're able to move around everywhere in the world and catch pokemons in battles alá Pokemon Stadium. Just a plain game without any weird things or "fantasy-objects". Just some plain parallel world that's pretty realistic with pokemons in it. I know I would buy it!

Much to ELFCommander88's delight, this fall, Nintendo should be releasing the Pokemon Mystery dungeon games. Pokemon Mystery dungeon: Blue Rescue team is for DS, while Red Rescue team is for the GBA. In this game, you are a human, who has been transformed into a Pokemon. Being able to converse with other Pokemon, you find their world is being devastated by natural disasters. The Layout of the game is similar to the RPG titles like: Magical Vacation, Children of Mana, and Lunar : DragonSong. It's the exact same game, minus the map on the DS top screen. There's also Pokemon rangers for DS, but not much is known yet.

The quality of Pokemon has gone down with the latest games but if Nintendo plays its cards right, Diamond and Pearl have the ability to revive it!

i like the touch screen. i really dont have a problem with it like ELFcommander88 does. i just think the touch screen is a little bit easier than just pressing buttons all the time. pokemon for the ds is perfect for the touch screen, at least thats is what i think. so dont jugde on something u havent tried. online pokemon is going to ROCK.

i think this game will rock. i am a pokemon fan and i am more of a pokemon cheater than a pokemon trainer so my favorite game was pokemon blue. i have a DS and i have most of the wi-fi titles and i am a big online gamer so wouldn't it be fun to be owning other pokemon trainers? wouldn't it be fun to send out a lv100 deoxys on a level 3 weedle? heh, yeah right. i assume that online pokemon trainers would have far more superior pokemon. as ELFCommander88 said, it would be fun to have an rpg pokemon game that is 3-d and with battle scenes like pokemon stadium for the n64. yeah, pokemon diamond and pearl are gonna rock, hands down

Well, the DS will bring 2 new titles to the Pokemon series. The Pokemon games for the GBA were by far great. I guess the only setback is the repetitive gameplay from one version to the next. Since Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are all the same game, just a little different storyline and end bosses, I guess Diamond and Pearl will be the same way. Like I said, the Pokemon series are by far the best for RPG's, but they are repetitiive. Can't wait to get a DS Lite, the Diamond and Pearl.
