User Rating: 8.9 | Animal Crossing GC
This game has Nintendo written all over it. Only the geniuses working for the Big N could possibly conjure up something so wildy inventive and highly addictive. Animal Crossing is a game that literally NEVER ends! You begin in your own town (You get to pick the name) and you befriend your neighbors, run errands, decorate your home, and live the good life. You can then travel to different towns by train (if you have two memory cards, that is!) Or, even better, you can visit your friends towns by popping their memory card into the slot B on the Cube. Nothing like this has ever been done before, which is probably why the reaction the game received was so positive. Comparing Animal Crossing to The Sims is like comparing a cell phone to a walkie talkie. The game is awesome, but it does have a few flaws. The frame rate is very frustrating, and the load times CAN be a tad long compared to other GC titles (But let's face it, GC owners are priveleged enough, seeing as almost every game loads the second you pop it in! The load times on the Cube are amazing!) Many may argue that the game gets boring fast, and it loses its spark pretty quick. If you don't have the game, don't even bother renting it, just shell out the $19.99 (it's a Greatest Hits) it costs. Trust me, you won't regret your decision! I HIGHLY recommend this game to anybody who enjoyed The Sims, is looking for a game that NEVER gets old, wants to have child-like fun, and anyone who owns a GameCube!
