Okay fellow wrestling fans. It's time to face that fact that AKI will most likely never creat a WWE game again such as classics WCW Revenge and WWF No Mercy. However, next to those classic and beloved N64 games, I believe that Yukes and THQ are really getting into a groove on their Playstation WWE:Smackdown! series. First of all, Gameplay. This is by far the best gameplay in a pure wrestling game since WWF No Mercy (with the exception of Def Jam Vendetta). Great moves, reversals, and the indroducion of the tug of war system for submissions, bra and panties matches, etc. Also, the ability to change the superstars move sets is a nice plus. OK here goes the graphics: Sure, it's not WWE Raw on X-Box (the graphics are the only thing going for that series), but the player models, arenas, and motion capture are created nicely. The only real flaw is the lack of proper shading and contrast. Next, the sound: Ok. Something did bother me here...no commentary. Sure, it gets repetative and old at times, but it is better than hearing annoying background music constantly. However, due to the fact that HCTP has more original themes than Raw 2 and Wrestlemania XIX, so props are deserved here. Value??? All you need to ask yourself is one question...Am I a WWE Fanatic??? If yes...then you should buy...well...then again, you probably already own this game. Having fun? That's good. Look peeps, if you're into some cool wrestling action with all of your WWE favorites, check this out. With all of the match options, multiplayer, and season modes, there's plently here to make you feel the pain! Peace.
