Wii Sports comes back for more!

User Rating: 8 | Wii Sports Resort (w/Wii MotionPlus) WII
When the Nintendo Wii arrived, it came with a game known as 'Wii Sports'. It was amazing... but those days are long gone and its become a game sitting in a vast collection of better (and of course worse) games. Four years on and Nintendo release 'Wii Sports Resort', the sequel to 'Wii Sports'. And it's better then it's older brother (Wii Sports).

FIRST LOOK

On first impressions, the game looks bright and colourful and instantly shows off the Wii's 'Mii' feature. As you skydive into the game, you can see how 'Wii MotionPlus' works so well. MotionPlus is an add-on to the Wii-mote which make the Wii-mote's accuracy more presise and it works VERY well.

MUSIC

The music in Wii Sports Resort is very good and suits the games you're playing very well. Swordplay has dramatic, fighting music & bowling has more relaxed music.

GAMEPLAY

The most important part of any game! There are mainly strong events in the game which show off the games MotionPlus abbilities. There are a few weak events and some which are from the previous game. There are two HIGHLY strong events. These are Swordplay & Power Cruising. They both have solid controls, the difficulty is just right & Swordplay in particular has great multiplayer. Golf & bowling were in the original game... and they're back. But, they both take an advantage of the MotionPlus. There are 2 weak events. Cycling which just involves waving the Wii-mote & Nunchuk up and down, trying not to overdo yourself. There's also Wakeboarding which is just moving the remote side to side gently. Neither show off MotionPlus & could be easily done without it. Unfortunatly, you do need MotionPlus for all the events. If you want to do 4-player, you need three more remotes and three more MotionPlus, never mind the Nunchuk! Maybe totalling £70 (without Nunchuk or Wii Sports Resort) at least! There's also Stamp mode, where you can unlock achivements for doing certain things in events. But, these aren't able to be sent via Wi-Fi so you can't tell your friends about your INCREDIBLE achivements. It does keep you coming back for more though.

OVERALL

Overall it's mainly strong events balanced out by some average and weak events. It's highly addictive. Especially trying to get those final stamps! Multiplayer is good but watch your money if you want more MotionPlus. It is a great game, it's fun for all the family and can keep you entertained for hours.
