User Rating: 9.5 | Wario Ware, Inc: Minigame Mania GBA
The GBA has spawned quite the collection of good games, from new original hits to ports of SNES classics. The GBA has also spawned the series that is warioware, a hectic minigame series. You may not think it, but Warioware is one of the greatest GBA games ever made. Warioware starts off with a tired and lazy Wario watching TV. He sees a commercial for a popular game and decides that in order to get rich, he needs to go into the gaming world and create a game, however Wario isnt very smart so he enlists the help of his friends to create his game.

Warioware is a collection of very very short minigames each lasting around 5 seconds. These games are organized by each of Wario's friends and himself. Meaning, you select a character and play his or her set of minigames (each character has a game genre whether it be NES classics or Sports). If it is you first time playing the level you play up to a certain amount of minigames, play a boss minigame (which may actually last up toa minute depending on the character) and then you end, unlock more characters and move on. However, after you have beaten each character you can go back and rank up your number of minigame completed, this time however, completing the boss game will give you an extra life. After a certain amount of mini games the games get faster and after each boss, the games get harder, so it really takes concentration to master this hectic game. Each little minigame is short, and usually has you accomplish one task, whether it be dodging arrows, collecting coins, shooting baddies or solving simple questions. The games can get extremely weird at times and it all sort of adds to Wariowares quirky and weird style. Warioware graphics are not the best that the GBA has produced, but it is like that for a reason. Warioware has a very distinct style. Some games may be exact ports from NES or SNES classics, other could be paper cutouts of real people, and pretty much all the others are normal, standard GBA graphics. The art in Warioware is very strange, in the sense that it is Anime-esque. Its strange to see a character from the Mario universe in sort of a Japanese Anime setting. But everything aside, the graphics are great, they really show off Wariowares distinct style and it is a very good style.

Warioware has a pretty interesting soundtrack as well. Like i mentioned before, it is in a Anime setting sort of, meaning that it has japanese music. Some of the music is catchy, and other times it is just annoying. The music varies a lot in this game, at times it is 8bit sounding, other times it is rock, or even J-pop. It really has a variety and you are bound to find a tune that will get stuck in your head. Sound effects are great, fitting for what they are supposed to be making the sound for and they sound perfect, not cheap nor annoying. There is a bit of voice acting in Warioware, Wario and his crew say pretty much 7 lines each, while this goes with its style, it is annoying to hear the same lines over and over again. Now while Warioware is an amazing game, it has some flaws. The Game is over before you know it, it is around five hours, and there isnt much to do afterwards. There is no real multiplayer (there is but the games are simple and require you to hold the GBA with a friend and press L and R.), no head to head or anything, and once you have seen and played all the minigames hundreds of times, the game does get a bit repetitive. The game is also extremely easy, even when the speed and difficulty increses, it doesnt actually get hard untill you get to minigame 60 or 70. Warioware is a must buy for all GBA owners, especially now when the price is a mere ten dollars. It is addicting, fun, and offers a pretty big library of things to do after you have tired out from all the minigames, there is a full version of Dr.Mario, and Mario Paint's Fly swatter, as well as other games, and if you like a certain minigame a lot, why not go for the high score on just that minigame?

Warioware is a fun and hectic collection of minigames and is probably the best minigame collection out there. Sure there is no good multiplayer, and yea, the game can get repetitive and boring if you play it nonstop, but it is still one of the funnest GBA titles to ever grace the system. Enough of me talking, go out and buy this game, if you havent already, and if you dont own a GBA and or DS, go out and buy one, along with Warioware.
