How Insanity can be Fun!
User Rating: 9.8 | Wario Ware, Inc: Minigame Mania GBA
There are games that could be considered normal, and then there are games that could be considered to be insane. WarioWare is a result of this. Firstly, it's a Wario game, meaning that it's immediately a different style of play from the Mario games, but has a really interesting hook to it too, this hook, being Microgames. Thats right, Microgames, and somehow, Nintendo has managed to fit 200 of this games onto the cart. Let me explain what a Microgame is. It's a game that takes only a few seconds to beat, and requires hardly any button presses. And the Microgames cover a lot of topics, from topics like old-school Nintendo games (mini versions of Metroid, Zelda, Punch-Out), to even weird as hell minigames (picking your nose? Shielding a kitten from rain?). And best of all, Nintendo throw these at you, so after one game ends, the other begins almost immediately. And thats the whole brilliance of WarioWare. The game throws many wacky moments at you, that you'll need to pause the game just to laugh, lest you want to accidently let go of your GBA, risking damage. The game is perfect for on the road, when you want a quick buzz of gaming, but don't have the time to play something like Final Fantasy. Graphically, the game covers a lot of styles. From normal 2D sprites, to use of clay figures, to even photos of people and animals! This game covers a lot of styles and does a great job of it. The game also sounds great as well, while all the original music is great, it's the reused Nintendo music which is brilliant. All the classic Nintendo themes are used, and one of the games best sounding moments is hearing a parody of the original Super Mario Bros music, brilliant. All up, this is one hell of a great game, and one that should be checked out. There aren't any faults in the game, and it's one funny ride, from the moment you start till the moment you end.
