Nothing on this list comes near a MGS experience. Nice try though.

@VoidSECT Actually MGS2 is heavily influenced by The Rock. There are actually pieces in MGS2 that are practically lifted wholesale from it. And MGS3 has a lot of similarities to an 70s-80s spy flick, which makes Bond a fair comparison too.

Far Cry crafting is nothing like peace walker. There aren't even passing similarities.

My suggestions would be ones that take into account Metal Gear's tone, as in half hyper-melodrama, half snarky self aware humour at how stupid the whole thing is.

TV's Community and maybe Archer or that Chuck show, Saint's Row 2, that Persona Arena game. Bond is a decent shout, they can be very self aware. Charlie Kaufman movies even, mix self-importance and self-deprecation in the same way Metal Gear does.

The closest thing to Metal Gear's quirky personality and stealth-action combination is probably No One Lives Forever 1 and 2 .It's probably a much better game too (both games have a 94 on Metacritic). So play that. Though your gonna have a hard time finding a copy since its not on Steam.

Good games to get your stealth fix:

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

Splinter Cell: Conviction

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Far Cry 3: I loved it but also hated the crafting system. The crafting system was ridiculous. There was no need to muck the game with that crap. I would love to play it again, but I don't have the interest in spending my time with that crafting system.

Honorable mention: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier: You can use technology to be stealth as you can be before any major battles eventually break out

"Roger Moore can be a bit rubbish"

I grew up with Roger Moore being James Bond. He's still a classic to me.

He was a goofball.

He was testing out this spy camera Q gave him. He was using the spy camera to look at a woman's cleavage. Q says, "Behave yourself 007."

The young tween in "For Your Eyes Only" is lying in bed and throws her clothes to the floor and says, "My parents still think I'm a virgin." 007 responds, "You put your clothes on and I'll buy you an ice cream."

The only Bond movie I seen with Sean Connery was "Never Say Never Again" and I don't remember much about it. Sean Connery didn't strike me as anyone special in that movie.

The Rock: Sean Connery rocks in this movie. It only fitting that this movie is recommended. Sean Connery plays a former SAS member. The American (and other countries) Special Forces units are modeled after the British Special Forces.

Entrapment: Another good movie with Sean Connery. Stealthy heists pulled off my Sean and his lady partner.

The Score: A big stealthy heist pulled off by Edward Norton and Robert DeNiro.

Sean Connery from The Rock, would've been a better comparison with Snake, not Nicolas Cage.

But yes, Far Cry 3 was easily one of the best games of that year--a 'far cry' from its predecessor, which was easily one of the most boring of that year.

@GH05T-666 Its nothing like Far Cry. You capture and recruit soldiers, scientists etc, and then have departments like medical, R&D and intel. The better the staff in each department, the better improvements you can create. Closest thing to far cry is you get given parts everytime you destroy a fake metal gear, and can eventually build your own.

Ah yea, sweet recommendations this week Johnneh! The Rock is one of the best action movies ever created... I've also seen it more times than I care to admit. I haven't seen Escape from NY but I watched Escape from LA and I imagine it's basically the same movie, very cheesy and fun!

This Ground Zeroes games though... sounds sweet. I'm so pumped for it! Even though I'll be playing it on PS3 it's one of the only games I REALLY want to see on next gen.

Considering previous MGS games had re playability in terms of how you approach the shooting and or stealth this will probably be closer to 8-12 hours of gameplay all up, epsecially because its open world

I've not played Metal Gear Solid since 2 basically. Seeing it from the perspective of someone who hasn't ever owned a PS3 it just seems to be that they are giving the different characters basically as many horrendous medical issues as possible and then making a game about them.

I mean Phantom Pain? The thing where people who have severed an arm have unbearable pain in a limb that doesn't exist and it becomes the title of the game?

And that one where it has an old guy in it who can barely breath?

In the trailer to this one it looks like someone has stabbed him in the face with a barbed harpoon and then stuck him back together with sellotape and superglue.

Honestly from someone who has never had the option to buy these games till now, I'm not sure I care from the looks of them.

@Dannystaples14 Metal Gear Solid franchise in my opinion had its peak with MGS 3. That's the game you should play if you like stealth action games. I don't blame you for not caring for newer MGS games, I don't care either.

@frozengrudge because they didn't include Zone of the Enders 3 with it, otherwise it would be 60$, though no one will play ZOE anyway so it's a win win situation.

@frozengrudge Isn't it a "shorter" prequel to the Phantom Pain coming out some time this year or whenever it is coming out?
