The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6: Every Easter Egg And Reference Explained

Here are 12 Star Wars references and things to know from "Chapter 14: The Tragedy".

In The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6, Din Djarin and Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) head to the planet Tython where they run into some trouble while trying to connect with the Jedi. This episode had tons of fan service and action, and of course, a new batch of Star Wars references. Let's break it all down.

As instructed by Ahsoka Tano, Mando sits Grogu on the seeing stone to connect to the Force and hopefully make contact with a Jedi who can train him. However, they have been tracked to the planet by the mysterious character played by Temuera Morrison at the end of Chapter 9, who we now know is Boba Fett! It turns out he survived the Sarlacc pit on Tatooine in Return of the Jedi. Fett wants his armor back, and also has help from Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), who we last saw in Chapter 5.

But they're not the only ones looking for Mando - Moff Gideon and the Empire also appear above Tython and attack, in their pursuit to capture Grogu. Also, he's got his Dark Troopers with him. Chapter 14 is a short, action-packed episode directed by filmmaker Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, The Faculty).

Jango being reinstated as Mandalorian in the eyes of Disney canon has made me very happy & as well for carrying the legacy of Boba Fett. I must admit, this was a good episode and seeing the Stormtrooper trying to shatter the rolling rock was just LOL. The only stupid thing in this episode was Mando keeping his jetpack down and never using it again while he goes up and down the mountain. Especially when they have showed that he can remotely control it. 9/10 is what I'm giving this episode and it was short, but the action scenes makes it up for it.

This episode was kind of a mess.

Why didn't he just recall his rocket pack as was established previously?

Why didn't the giant ship just blew up them all up afterwords instead of running away?

Could it see the other ship? Why didn't it blow that up? How did Boba find him? Exactly at that time?

Why did he run into a brick wall 3 times when it clearly wasn't working?

The action was very poor compared to "The Jedi" as well. That felt like I was watching a samurai inspired movie. This felt like a Youtube fan vid shot in Spain.

Super predictable as well. Even before it aired could see the outcome.

The reveal of Boba didn't feel organic either compared to Ahsoka. It subverts excpectations by showing her in the first 3 seconds like she's been in it since mid-season.

Here, it's all overdone with the glorification as to feel fraudulent.

@uninspiredcup: Overwrought fan service hung on sloppy writing is a pretty good description for this episode.

@uninspiredcup: Sums up my problems with the episode. Definitely felt sloppy just to have some fan service with Boba.

The jetpack conveniently being out of play was the biggest bit of stupid for me...

@m4a5: Yea, Temuera Morrison is great though. Actually liked seeing him prior to putting the suit on where like... he comes across as a character and not just some Youtube fan service.

@uninspiredcup: there was a tracker on Mandos ship that's how they targeted it.. they probably didn't know the Slave One was there.

Are you serious with these fucking thumbnails? Why would a website that caters to and depends on the patronage of geeks bite the hand that feeds with rampant spoilers?

@Cikatriz_ESP: I don't think they care as long as the clicks come. Unfortunately.
