Too bad it won't be out on PC. And about QTEs: I don't see it as a problem. You already mash X and Y for strikes so why is a problem to mash the same buttons in a cool slow mo execution. And it seems more realistic that way. You know, you strike your enemy with a sword maybe and just maybe once and the next strike would be lethal.
But then again they could just put an execution animation without player intervention. I don't know. Does anyone have an idea how this game's gameplay should actually look like instead of this?
Ok....so they're historically inaccurate, as Romans didn't fight solo. Also, if they put in a gladiator component into the game, I may...and that's a BIG FAT MAY.....I may just buy it!! that, despite it being in piece of shit third person!
Oh, and can anyone please tell me just what the **** "QTE" stands for???!!!
This game looks fantastic. I think they will polish the combat and scale back the quick time events in the coming months. They mainly wanted to show off its prettiness.
this game must come to PC too .. because CRYTEK people are PC lovers .. xD .. and if you do not believe me .. go now and take a long look at Crysis series
Solid graphics. But that was the worse combat game play I think I've ever seen. Scrap the QTE's and throw in some Assassins Creed style combat. Problem solved, games a hit, I accept cash or check.
looked great... right up until the combat started....
Disappointing. The flashy QTE laden canned mini cut scenes could have been cool as special moves, but every kill? EVERY KILL???. having control yanked away from the player and seeing the exact same set of (albeit intricate) kill animations several times over in a single fight will begin to grind very quickly I think.
If i choose Xone over PS4, i will certainly buy this one, despite all of its messy details, the ammount of gore and realism of this era, is unmatched. There are really no alternatives out there. All of them are in a fantasy world i dont particularly enjoying living at.
The most annoying fact is indeed the QTEs, the slow mo is fine to let you enjoy, savour the gore, but in every single kill??
The players deosnt seem to have the option to make a kill without a slow motion quick time event.
This is going to have a serious impact in the gameplay pace.
Looks like Saving Private Ryan set in ancient Rome. Looks really cool, the only complaint I'd have (besides the bad dubbing) is that for the most part the combat wasn't anything like how Roman soldiers fought. Except for the tortoise formation against the arrows and the spear throwing where everyone was formed up, it didn't look very Roman. Looked more like Assassins Creed.
Also, they repeated the same kill animations A LOT. Somewhat concerning.
Finally! A gritty reboot of Hasbro's top seller "Bop It!" I liked the part where he just kinda stands there on the beach banging his shield while watching two NPC's fight. It seems like a pretty accurate representation of what I'd be doing while playing Ryse. It was very exciting indeed! I don't remember EXACTLY where it is in the video, but if I had to guess I'd say it's somewhere between slow motion Quick Time Event #37 and slow motion Quick Time Event #63...so roughly somewhere between the 3 and 4 minute mark.
This is probably the best sword fighting game I've seen since warriors: legends of troy. I will admit the combat could have looked better if done similar to the batman arkham series but at the same time the added QTE should add a temporary moment to enjoy the gore, which is the essence of a war from that era. The voices seem pretty out of sync though. xD Not enough to get me to buy a XOne but enough to make me want to buy the game.
What the hell! This is Resident Evil with Romans. I got bored watching after just 3 minutes. Is this what the new game generation is? Just a continuation of shit quick time events and boring gameplay? I want gameplay, story, and visuals. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO FUCKING ASK FOR?
Nice looking game. But when did simple barbarians have massive well built stone castles or could built or even operate catapults? But I'm not really a history expert...
@Mojira7 good point. Barbarian was more of a derogatory term Romans used to describe anyone who wasn't under Roman rule. They even called other advanced civilizations barbarian.
Damn this game looks nice, even though the Roman's were fucking bastards. Xbox one is tempting, I just don't like all the tag along problems that seem like they are going to be a hassle. Can't wait for the sony conference
