Early Access on consoles is not a good idea. Every other game is some horrendously unoptimized UE4 game. Us PC players with the horsepower have grown accustomed to throwing money at our rigs to play these games (not something I am proud of). Console players have what they have. I hope they put these early access console markets through the ringer. From what I have seen of this game on consoles, this shouldn't be allowed.

What did they expect? Running an unoptimized CPU heavy game on a severely outdated CPU architechture. Jaguar was developed for tablets and netbooks back in 2013. 5-6 years ago it was considered low-end. Today, it's extremely low-end. Which means the CPU in Xbox One X is weak AF.

Microsoft is desperately trying to get more games on the Xbox One platform. Should have gone with Fortnite Battle Royale instead, that game would have been running 30 fps no problem. Far better optimized and less CPU demanding.

PUBG is a mess from the ground up.

@LasDK: truth up. Xbox gamers: only developing time with appropiate dev support will fix this. This kind of thing is expected and happens in PC early access version too.

@LasDK: I think the issues are on the development side, not the XB1x. I might be wrong.

@pongman75: It's on both sides.

Weak hardware running unoptimized software = Bad experience.

@LasDK: The CPU is bottle-necking the frame rate and adjustments will be made to maintain a stable 30fps on OneX, that's guaranteed. I think "weak hardware" is an inconclusive statement when PUBG suffered a series of issues on high end gaming rigs and continues to do so.

PUBG on Xbox is Game Preview. You shouldn't touch unless you expect to have problems. Whole point of being in Game Preview is to sort out the problems prior to an official release.

General idea with Game Preview is you buy and help the developer by getting involved in the game. Reporting and testing bugs, joining forums, giving feedback. PUBG is not released yet on Xbox. The payoff for this is you get the game at a slightly reduced rate from the final release price. But you do it to support the developer, not play it decide it has problems then look to get a refund. It will have problems, lots of them.

@Fallenlords69: Great point. I really feel for Microsoft / Xbox at the moment because they're trying extremely hard to play catch up and the bluehole partnership is an excellent partnership to move int the right direction. This is a damned if we do, damned if we don't situation.

If they skip the preview program and wait for an official console release, they're going to be criticized for waiting. There has been NO OTHER PREVIEW GAME on Xbox that has received this level of harsh criticism. It's as if, all the sudden, everyone forgot what "Preview" means. I can't image Spencer and team expected this. It's also bringing Sony fanboys out of the woodwork and PC loyalist.

I'm having a great time with it on Xbox One X. It performs and looks better than what I get on my i7300 1080TI. I think the controller scheme is revolutionary and only one site has provided the controller scheme with credit. I don't agree with Bluehole's marketing around this and wonder if there is miscommunication between MS and BH. They should quickly address the premature criticism and provide a road map for what's going to be addressed and when. Something that simple would quiet those who lost the definition to "preview".

This get to the overall purpose of the preview program to begin with. This is great service to have and it's unfortunate it has come to this!

@caseyrybek: Saw an article on Forbes saying it was an 'inexcusable embarrassing mess on Xbox One'. Then states he realises it is Game Preview but it is no excuse because it has been in that state on the PC for ages and if we are to pay money it should be better etc.

Most games launch on Game Preview in a bit of a mess. With games being ported from the PC and in serious need of refinement. If they were ready for launch they would just be launched and not put in the Game Preview program. I just don't get the reaction on this one at all.

PUBG runs fine on my Xbox One X. Not sure I dig the whole Battle Royale vibe, but it might grow on me. One of the first issues I came across was nowhere could I find where it showed the controller scheme. First game I got killed because I couldn't work out how to load my gun. Hold X ... makes sense once you know and I like the fact it is not instant. There are some nice touches in the game and I can see why it is popular. And personally happy to support the developer in this instance.

@Fallenlords69: lol, I read that same article last night. most likely, the author of that article didn't realize it was a preview game then received tons of hate mail. Rather than admitting to his mistake, he continued with his same nonsensical rant.

I also deactivated my DVR capture - did you read about that? Seemed to make a difference for me, although I really haven't experienced a lot of frame rate drops that others are complaining about.

I got the basics of the controls down, but still struggling with looting and grenades. it's not normal, that's for sure but not sure how many options they had moving from a game that benefits from mouse/keyboard to controller. Brings me back to my original point - what did people expect? The same FPS control scheme simply will not work for PUBG.

Remember when the Culling (sp?) first came out on the Preview program? that was like something straight out of the first Wolfenstein decades ago. Where was the hate for that?

It's a double whammy really, because it's the hate from Sony fanboys coupled with the hate from PC loyalist. The Sony feedback is expected; I'm a bit surprised by the PC loyalist. Rather than evaluating the port and comparing it to initial early release on PC, they are instead comparing it to the almost final PC version.

I'm having a lot of fun with it. Made it to top 3...later to top 2 yesterday and it continues to be addicting.

@caseyrybek: Yeah I like the fact that you can pick your tactics. I hid one match from everybody and came fifth without firing a shot. Just to see if those type of tactics held any validity.

PC gamers I don't know any more if they are gamers or PC enthusiasts. All people seem to talk about is frame rates and performance etc. Not so much the game is fun to play. Seem to be using games as benchmarks for performance testing their rigs. Then gloating that their £5k graphics card runs the game better than an Xbox One X ... err not surprising.

PUBG will probably end up on PS4 at some point I would imagine, you can't ignore such a large install base. Probably Xbox One players will do all the bug testing in Game Preview and PS4 will end up with a solid launch copy.

The only game I have ever criticised in Game Preview is Conan Exiles - just because I know what that developer is like. Game Preview suits Funcom down to the ground because they never fix bugs. Bugs become features in their games. So a game like that I doubt will ever see a proper release, and I think that is the only problem with Game Preview. A developer like that can live off a promise and never deliver. But at the end of the day if people want to support them it is their choice.

PC all the way for this game. Wouldn't even think about buying it on my OG xbox one or an Xbox X. LOL at the fanboys that paid $500+ for the X1X. Where is all the pooooowwwaaaa? Fps 30 at best with dips as low as 10-15fps. You will get dizzy and sick from playing this game. Meanwhile its running butter smooth on my PC.

@sealionact: too many cheats? Not true. That's the stereotypical defense reply of fanboy or just someone who doesn't even play on pc so they don't know. Not sure exactly which one is you. I play Pubg all the time and it's very fun and cheaters are definitely not ruining the game. Are their some out there? I'm sure but I rarely notice any.

@onehitta323: Please. It's rampant. On pubg alone there's an average of 10,000 cheats that are being caught and banned per day....god knows how many aren't being caught.

Heck, even the Dev apologized for the cheats.

@sealionact: Please....if its banning 42,000 people a day then theres probably something wrong with their anti cheat service. LMAO. Like I said, I play this a lot on pc and I don't have any issues regarding cheaters. The way you're making it sound is that its some virus plaguing every game LOL. Which is far from the truth. All I know is that I have a ton of fun with this game, very addictive, and it looks amazing on my PC. Would never even think about buying this on x1x. That would be such a downgrade. 1440p all ultra settings and well over 100fps consistently. Also If I play on 4k, I get 60fps. Life is good over here on PC, Ps4, and Switch. The fps on xbox is just embarrassing and will cause nausea playing this game.

@onehitta323: Nope, nothing wrong with their anti cheat software...it's a widely known issue which you can Google yourself.

I have a ton of fun with pubg too... Yes, it dips below 30fps when flying in the plane, or in the lobby but it's pretty solid after that at native 4k.

Isn't it amazing that your monster pc that I'm guessing contains a 1080ti can only manage 30fps more than an x1x when running at 4k?

@sealionact: Sure it is. I don't need a google search to know. I play the game all the time lol. So I would know. 90% of the time people complaining about cheaters are using it as a fanboy defense or just going by what they heard.

I'm glad you enjoy the game though. I do as well. I actually like H1Z1 about the same as Pubg.

That's funny man. Also the fps is all over the place. With 30 at best. I have a 1080 by the way. Fps has a lot of factors that can effect it than just a graphics card. I get anywhere from 60-80 fps at 4k. The xbox is a stuttering mess with this game. I prefer to play at 1440p though because of the really high framerate and looks amazing.

@creepywelps: What are you on about? Pubg is riddled with cheats.... Over 40000 accounts A DAY were kicked for cheating and the Dev ended up APOLOGISING.

@sealionact: umm that article clearly states that it was one day that many were banned. Not everyday. Most of the cheaters are Chinese and play 3rd person. That list also included stream snipers and team killers so it's not even all hacks. What are you on about?

@creepywelps: Try reading, or do your own research. Thousands of people are being banned daily, culminating in one day that led to 42000 accounts being banned for hacking. From the article;

"BattlEye is currently banning accounts between an average rate of 6,000 and 13,000 on a daily basis. However, there are days when the ban-waves pass that threshold by more than double or even more."

"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' anti-cheat service is banning as many as 42,000 players a day but it's still not enough, with some matches plagued by hackers. It's a fact that the development team apologised for earlier today, adding that it is introducing new measures to catch players that are ruining the game for everyone else."

Plagued by hackers. Which was my point. Heck, last time I played BF1 online there was one hacker flying across the screen in midair. Hacking and cheating is a huge problem on pc, and the sooner pc delusionalists are willing to accept that, the sooner progress in anti cheating methods can be introduced.

Do people not realise what an early access title is? Perhaps on console it has been marketed in a bad way but the dev did previously state that the console release is based on an older PC build from around July or so this year so things will improve.

Keep in mind also that the CPU in the X is basically the same with a 30% increase so it is not going to make things significantly better in every situation compared to the base console.

PC is still not perfect but it is in much better shape than the current console version.

However this is not an actual released game so treat it more as a work in progress and then your expectations won't be dashed.

Calling out a publisher for low quality on an early access title is just silly.

Once they start allowing the X to run at 60 fps instead of a capped 30 it will probably be alot smoother in any case. Especially if it is currently using a forced half Vsync solution.

@deviltaz35: The game is never going to be perfect. It's bugged from top to bottom. Worst hit detection ever. High-end PC's can bruteforce the bad performance and get decent fps, but the weak console CPU is choking.

@deviltaz35: How dare people think that a studio of mediocre devs spend their millions on hiring people that actually understand game development! Blasphemy I say! Most played game on steam right now and they don't put a dime back into development. Anyone who thinks this garbage will ever leave early access in denial. It may leave it in name, but its forever gonna be a buggy over hyped piece of garbage.

PUBG with 10-30 fps, with a controller, can it get any worse? Stupid.

The performance thing doesn't surprise me. Bluehole (Bunghole?) is a no-name group of modders. They don't know how to polish a game. Hitboxes have been laughable since game's inception. It's insane that such an UGLY, poorly-performing game would also take up SO MUCH MEMORY! Last time I had to crash the game out, it was eating up 7GB of memory! That's absurd.

@aegis_kleais: Early access games often have memory leaks though , Arkham Knight has memory leaks on PC even after full release so nothing is a given.

Keep in mind they don't have hundreds of people working on this game either.

The best thing to do is voice your concerns in a constructive way and see what they can implement in further builds of the game.
