Notice how the frame rate doesn't get much worse moving from low to high settings? That shows how badly this game is optimized. Even very high spec computers have more trouble with this game than they should considering it doesn't have very impressive visuals.
If it was properly optimized the low setting option would play a lot better.
Also putting the general frame rate issues aside, I think that appearance of lag is caused by loading in new models and textures in the open world. Again, even on a high spec computer this game has terrible pop in issues.
I'm not saying this should be a PC exclusive (console players deserve games too), but if it was developed properly for PC this game would be amazing. Instead I'm half way through the story and it's just not grabbing me. The visuals are average and the story is pretty boring, it doesn't make me want to drop what I'm doing to play, I just play it to kill time.
Considering Ubisoft was recommending an i7 and said the minimum was a quad core (I think Core 2 Quad?) I'm impressed that it runs like it does on a lowly pentium, especially as even high end rigs are having issues.
seriously, gamespot? you are trying to show graphical fidelity of this game while driving recklessly in a car?! this will not allow the viewer to see the essence of the visual change from high settings!! you should have made the video of aiden walking the streets. maybe in the rain where textures pop more due to reflections and great bump mapping. you messed up, guys. i love you but u made a bad decision with this video.
@topeira @topeira They're trying to show how the game runs, not so much the graphical fidelity. And in watchdogs if you want the framerate to drop, just try to drive. Even high end rigs were having problems running this game due to poor optimization.
@sidfreak1 tbh, your gear is quite old by a few generations.
But your processor just meets the minimum. You definitely need more ram. Minimum says 6GB. In today's age you probably need at 4gb for anything which you would also have to upgrade Windows to 64bit otherwise you can't use more than 3.5GB. Your graphics card doesnt quite meet the recommended requirements but i think it would if the game was better optimized. The game does not look that great and it runs like garbage. I would recommend building a new system if you want to game.
I would recommend getting an i5 System, with 8gb of ram, a GTX 750 video card which would probably cost less than $700US (I live in New Zealand and computer parts more expensive here).
Somehow I really doubt it was low settings at first. Low looks bit different for me and my budget class Dell laptop runs it better on "low" then this Intel PC. But it cant handle medium and above, but this Intel PC looks like it runs it totally the same as "low" and quality looks like doesnt look better or worse too. But it was worth watching whole video b/c of the last song.
