Why no Reach or ODST? I can see why they left off Wars, though.

Im not impressed by Halo 4, doesn't have much over Halo 3 and doesn't feel the same at all. Many parts of the campaign feels ripped off from others like Star wars.. i wasn't sure what game i was playing.

No idea who this Aaron Sampson producer is but Gamespot needs to use him more. I don't even like the Halo games and I enjoyed this.

@princegord2 Halo 4 looks absolutely stunning, not just in how far is pushes the Xbox but more importantly in visual style. There isn't much quite like it, the landscapes and the new enemies are all really unique unlike all the same old Dog Shit Brown and Gun Metal Grey colored games the genre is flooded with.

Reach definitely should definitely have been in this video- I would argue for ODST as well (human models were a LOT better than in 3), but it looked/played a lot like Halo 3. Reach looked WAY different than 3 and is an important visual stepping stone between 3 and 4. I would've much preferred them take the time to dip in to analyzing those games than the joke about health packs being food, the stupid Jurassic Park compositing bit and the really drawn out "look! you can melee them all you want in Halo 2 and they don't keep hemorrhaging!"

I must say the development in games graphics this last decade has been overall, pretty pathetic in my eyes. Developers have been making the tiniest steps forward in terms of resolution and lighting and such, all the while telling us that each tiny step is actually a giant leap forward. Well its not. For those of you who are old enough, think back to the years 96-01 and the increadible advances in graphics we saw back then. Games went from sporting sloppy 2d to life-like 3d graphics in just a few short years. Now, over ten years later they tell us, LOOK we found a new way for light to bounce of his suit... wow, really??

@jcr8 Unfortunately you don't understand how technology works then babble on about it like you do. It sucks when people do that, and it sucks even more that they do it all the time.

@vault-boy And here come the gurus. You know whats even worse that that, mate? When people like you with their self-proclaimed understanding (usually aquired in their basement) of technology go around telling people how wrong they're opinions are.

What a joke comment. There is an absolutely huge visual leap between Halo Reach and Halo 4. Furthermore, Halo 4 is easily one of the best looking games on any console.

@kalipekona The fact that you use the term huge, tells me that you dont have an concept of what a "huge visual leap" is.

@jcr8 Xbox 360 has a GPU from 2005..... Do you really expect them to produce cutting edge graphics on that? Idiot.

@jcr8 I have to agree games today don't look much better then games from 6 years ago. I mean how much difference do you see from AC1 to AC3? You can't really push graphics when your working with 7 year old hardware. They need to upgrade already.

@Dedakiss @jcr8 ...you haven't played Halo 4 have you?

And AC3 might not look like a gigantic step up in a screenshot- but consider than AC3 can have like 10x more characters on screen at any given time than the first game with little to no quality loss (over Revelations even)

I can see what you mean, but, the cutscenes in halo 4 compared to halo reach...EPIC... the first cutscene i honestly thought was a real scene with actual people! Then i realized it wasn't but still fooled me at first. And i think the graphics of alot of games are improving but until there is a new system i feel like we probably won't have HUGE leaps in the graphics department. But halo 4 looks way better than halo 3 did and its the same system.

@RAD_TRBO I disagree with the first statement, because cutscenes are disqualified, utterly and completely. It has never been difficult to create good-looking cutscenes, so long as the developer has been willing to spend enough money on production effects. Cutscenes are movies. Im talking about realtime in-game graphics, and these see only marginal imrovements. Halo 4 looks better sure, thats to be expected. But its not a spectacular difference, far from it.

@super_voltron @jcr8 @RAD_TRBO

There is no difference between the PS3 and 360 that is worth talking about. Anybody with a pair of working eyes and decent intelligence can see that they are very close in overall graphical performance.

@jcr8 @RAD_TRBO thats because the xbox 360 is pretty much tapped out. they have gone as far as they go with it. The ps3 might be able to push a little more but most of the games have to look on par with 360 games anyways. so we shouldnt expect a huge leap untill the next big console.

look at ps2 mgs or god of war and compare it to the ps3 version.

@Ultra_Taco Depends on what you compare them to. If you compare them to todays standard, they are okay. Kinda reminded me of doom 3 for some reason. But that wasnt my point. What i was saying is that there has been relatively little development in graphics over the past ten years compared to earlier gaming eras. And yes im aware that some guru will show up at any moment to tell me that we have 20%(!!!) more polygons or reflective lighting or somesuch now than we did x years ago. Imo that doesnt matter because most people arent gurus. They dont care about the numbers or the technical stuff. They compare a games graphics to the previous game in the series and ask themselves - is this mindblowing? 12 years ago, some games were. Nowadays i cant think of any. They're all marginal improvements over previous marginal improvements.

@magicalclick I will stick with my opinion that Halo 2 has the hardest legendary campaign in the series... the jackal snipers.... the damned jackal snipers!!(to be fair, I'm playing through 4 on normal right now- saving legendary for when I'm not glued to the story)

@grey_fox1984 @magicalclick Legendary is kicking me in the balls right now. I walked through the game on heroic in a little under 5 hours and I think it's going to take me at least double that for legendary. Wardens and jackal snipers will make you rage to no end.

There's a lot to say about Halo 4's campaign, but a lot of what sticks in my mind is what disappoints me about it unfortunately. I'll beat it myself on Legendary and hopefully my opinion will change. I'm going to go play it now.

Alright, I take it back. While I'm not so sure about some of the story aspects since I was somewhat disappointed in it after I beat it, I'm absolutely loving the game play, the visuals are great, and the sound overall is fantastic. The music is something that the gameplay doesn't really do, sets it apart from the rest of the Halo series. It really gives it a different tone, and I'm loving that, but that's not to say I dislike the past Halo's one bit, I still love those. I'm not sure about anyone else, but if you play somewhat tactical and are focused a bit, Legendary is easily manageable on your own. I think the Elites for sure are far easier than they were in Reach.

@uglypinkmoose I'm with ya on that one. The first 3 Halos had a nice overall art deisgn, but it was kind of... comic-ish or cartoony slightly? Something like that.

With Halo Reach they kept all the great iconic design, but made it feel and look more "real." I'm happy to see Halo 4 carry on the Reach style and I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I get it on down the line.

@SlowMotionKarma I agree the series has always had a slightly cartoony colorful look to it....not exactly cartoony but not real either.... Reach totally changed that and I think it's note worthy

Amazing video! ...but why the finger at Microsoft? Sure I want next gen too but hey it's not like Nintendo is setting the bar very high graphically with the Wii U nor is Playstation showing any signs of a new console either? Anyways, incredible difference even btw Halo 3 and 4, can't wait to see what Halo 5 will look like!!!
