@devilscry I'd say Ubisoft. They have history of making games with very unequal visual quality. Last Ghost Recon comes to mind - I had to make much more sacrifices in that game's visuals than with Battlefield 3 or Far Cry 3, even if game didn't look as good even fully maxed.

Beside capabilities of specific developers' team, the other question is how much love did PS4 and XBO versions of WD have received; let's face it, they are likely to sell less copies than any other platform, considering how many new consoles are there in wild. Why would they receive more optimization resources than other platforms?

Then, current state of development tools for both PS4 and XBO. Platforms are still young.

Personally, I have no doubts that both PS4 and XBO can do sustainable fps at 1080p, PS4 a bit easier. I know what I can get from my old 6870 1GB graphics card and base clock i5 CPU. I know what should be possible from PS4 graphics. If it doesn't happen, it is down to developers being lazy and going for "good enough" instead of "best we can get out of it". Many developers did the same on PC for ever, and consoles are getting powerful enough to let developers do lazy. On PS3, being lazy was recipe for disaster. On PS4, being lazy can still be good enough.

In the meantime, we will see real worth of these consoles in exclusives, and realistically, they have proven themselves capable. Forza 5 looks amazing and runs amazing - I do have complains on offered content, but technically, game is hard to fault. Killzone is, IMHO, one of the best - if not the best looking FPS I have played on any platform, PC included. Second Son, even if it was released before Watchdog, runs in 1080p and looks great, while being the same open world style of game as WD. Same for AC4 (at least PS4 version, not sure about XBO).

Eventually, I would not mind if consoles have R9 290 or GTX780-class graphics inside and i7 CPUs... but those would never reach mass-market levels like actual ones will. It is simple reality. For what they are, they are fine, and once exclusives start showing in numbers, these PC-only snobs will evaporate with their smartass comments. In the meantime, I will enjoy my PC, PS3 and PS4. R9 280X coming this weekend - Planetside 2 managed to slow my 6870 to below 20fps (even if just for a moment), time to upgrade :)

Do you not understand how it works? Yes, they are capable of outputting at 1080p and 60fps, just as the PS3 and 360 were. It's simply a matter of trade-offs. They could make every single game run at 1080p and 60fps if they wanted, but gamers wouldn't be happy with the visual trade-offs.

@devilscry They want to keep the flow of the gameplay, which is more important than resolutions, which is what I keep saying to people. Do you really want an empty experience or a robust full experience?

@Keivz_basic why in the hell would you wait for GTAV? Watchdogs is light years ahead from GTAV. in every f*kin possible way there is.

Developers never promised 1080p or 60fps in every game. Some gamers just jumped to the unrealistic conclusion that all console games would be this generation and they have nobody but themselves to blame if they are disappointed.

@downloadthefile If you compare Nvidia 7800 with ATI 7850/70, you will see that jump over PS3 is significant. If you add there 8GB of GDDR5 compared to 0.5GB of DDR3, jum will only get larger.

Mistake you are making is comparing latest PS3 games to earliest PS4 games. Dig out release games for PS3 and consider them. Not so flashy at all.

I will eat my hat if PS4 and XBO don't have the same path. Games that really squeeze max out of them are still more then a year away.

@downloadthefile Well, yo gotta make some sacrifices to get the price down to $400. But in reality, it actually doesn't matter how good the game looks, Second Son looks amazing on the console but still plays like a last gen game and thus gets boring fast. I would rather have them spend resouces in developing engines that introduce better AI and better animations, facial animations, voice acting, and also, better stories.

@thermalmotion spending $2000 on a gaming rig just so you can see 5 specs of dust particles or 3 extra stitches of thread on aden pearce jacket..only when hunched up at your desk with your eyes 3 inches away from the screen? No thanks. To each his own...I dont think its worth it. truth is if you took your rig and actually sat on a couch, say 5 metres away from your TV, chances are you wont tell the difference.
