Shouldn't a buyers guide just suggest what games to pick up & where? Like the best deals and bargains and stuff?

I think it's ill-advised to tell other people whether they should buy a console or wait a bit as it's always the personal factors that ultimately matter. You can list the features, games, etc. but in the end it's up to the indiviual to decide which features and games (and future games) they care about.

It's also always so weird when multi-platform games are seemingly excluded from any purchasing decision. There's still quite a difference between a next-gen game and the last gen, not everyone necessarily has a high-end PC (and if they do, they either already decided not to buy a new console or will buy the console based off of exclusives, regardless of anything else the console does.) So, to say there aren't enough games at launch while there are multiplayer experiences like Battlefield, Call of Duty or Need for Speed and Assassin's Creed 4 for a great open-world singleplayer, is misguiding.

I love PS4 fanboy testimonials:

I'd be more intrigued with the system as a media device if I could access my DVR or utilize the system as a DVR.

As to gaming, after my launch 360 RRoD for the second time all my multi-platform gaming switched over to the PS3 and my 360 became little more than a Halo (+Netflix) machine.

That attitude carried over to the new generation as I eagerly pre-ordered my PS4 after E3.

Who's to say that I won't some day give in to have a really expensive Halo machine... but that's really the only exclusive IP Microsoft has that interests me. I'd love to see them create some new IP's or bring back some of the novel ones from their past, e.g. Azurik, Kameo, Gunvalkyrie, Crimson Skies, Alter Echo.

I'd say Panzer Dragoon, but its spiritual successor doesn't seem to have done so hot.

I'm more inclined to buy a Wii U at the moment because that's where all the interesting exclusives are hiding out.
