Alan Wake on PC: What's New, What Took So Long

Man.... this is very annoying... I was watching this video (had to watch publicity) then the video stopped. I had to reload the page... AGAIN I had to watch a different publicity and again it stopped playing at half the length... I had to refresh the page and AGAIN watch a new publicity... Unbelievable... I'm off to another game review site.

They should have released Bright Falls with it.

I said this at the time, when the sales of the 360 version stop then they would remember that they had a nearly completed PC version that got scrapped at the last moment when Micro$uck decided that Alan Wake "wasn't right for PC gamers" I wonder how many people are gonna pirate this game now...lets see a show of hands, lol

Thanks a lot Microsoft you piece of s***, thanks to you I'm gonna play this game 2 years after it has been released for the XBOX360. The same time as a new installment is being released for the XBOX 360, just so that more people would buy your console. It's this kind of crap that you pull that makes you not deserve people's support nor their money.

I didn't really think it would happen... I am super-happy Remedy have been able to bring Alan Wake to PC eventually. They had always wanted one, but Microsoft made it a 360 exclusive.

@chillas99 stars weren't aligned.. that was his politically correct way of saying there were corporate entanglements. Remember that when Microsoft have a title they lay claim as X360 exclusive (like they did for this one), they like to keep it that way no matter what. They've done this kind of c***blocking before with many games. So when he says the stars weren't aligned he means it was a serious issue getting a green light for the funding for either the development or more importantly, the marketing and distribution, to make it happen. Be thankful it's not a GFWL monstrosity.

I already own this game on Xbox, I'm only too happy to purchase it again for the PC. I loved this game, and I think it's important to support developers who are building games outside of the box. Looking forward to playing this with settings max'd, and the lights down low.

"The stars weren't aligned?" Seriously, dude? That's the best you can come up with? I hope Remedy doesn't make you their official spokesmonkey, because that was lame casserole covered in lame sauce. Just go ahead and say it, say, "we view the PC as a third-class citizen because ZOMGWTF PIRATES!!!!111, but because we wanted to squeeze every possible cent out of the game we thought we'd toss you a bone." And now you want to "give the PC fans what they want?" You know what we want? We want you to remember you wouldn't exist if it weren't for the PC and for PC gamers. What we don't want is your sloppy seconds afterthought console port. If this had come out sometime chronologically near the original release of the game then maybe your lip service to PC fans might mean something. But two years later? Thanks, but no thanks Remedy. So just how many of your children have you killed?

3D Vision support !!!!! That changed my opinion to gave it another go on PC (no hud option ;))!! xD Hell yeaaahhh

looks pretty awesome. don't get my hopes up anymore tho, specially for ports. sounds they may have done a good upgrade.

The PC port has detailed advance graphical options including AA, AF, FXAA, draw distance and LOD distance. The controls are fully customisable, and something that'd make TotalBiscuit happy - there is even FOV option. As said in the video, the port also supports both Stereoscopic 3D and multi-screen. I haven't played much of the game yet to tell if there's any significant bugs, but so far Remedy is getting an A+ for the port effort from me.

Now if the price is right I'll get it on PC, but I'm not going to pay more than 10 to 15 € for a 3 year old port. If they try to make this a full price release (40+ €) I'll pick it up from a sale in another year. Thanks to all the delays and release bugs, the gaming industry tought me that I don't need to be among the first-day buyers. Looking forward to playing this fully linear story myself though.

@Adenosine I understand. But that's perhaps because they were taking their time to add some new feature on PC.

Unfortunately, the interest has already died for a lot of us. If you're releasing a game on consoles and you're thinking of also releasing it for the PC, then at least release them all at the same time. You say not releasing it for the PC is like killing a baby, but releasing it too late is like plugging a woman's birth canal for two years and then expecting the baby to come out without harm. Please, no more delays for us PC gamers!

@GodGundamNT1 No thanks. I'd fine with mouse and keyboard, any controller (including a wiimote), much higher render resolution, higher and more consistent framerates, mods, maps, skins, better graphics, no laggy online issues, no unnecessary online fees and all on the same machine as my web browser (that isnt a piece of crap), my long list of programs, my massive library of music and movies. Oh and if something goes wrong with a game on PC (bugs for example), most of the time there's a work around. Skyrim is a good example. BF3 is another example.

"Not doing the PC version is like killing one of your children !" - top of the line comment. That's why Remedy are among my favorite developers, because they respect PC games. Alan Wake will be exceptional for PC.

Well that stars weren't aligned" Translation :"We really wanted to release it on pc too back in 2010 but MS realized that they spend more money on marketing third party games as 360 exclusives instead of actually making 360 exclusives so they forced us to only release the 360 version and cut out some content to charge as DLC"

I hate to hop on the "kickstarter bandwagon" with the whole double fine kickstarter thing being mentioned by everyone and their mother constantly- but seriously, I truly believe Remedy is one of the few companies with enough cred, but is still small enough, to be able to pull off a successful kickstarter campaign. would make a pc original/exclusive more viable

I thought Alan Wake was kind of underrated- Played just like Max Payne, but with a less serious feeling. Overall really great game- can't wait to experience on PC.

why can't I maximize the screen when watching the ads?

please make a concrete decision on mods! :D it will give me even more incentive to buy.

It's very welcome, I actually appreciate being left out from the console hype as when we do get these games they come cheaper and include all the DLC releases as an added incentive.

i doubt the PC version will sell more than 1/4 mil.
