Okay, I've had a Wii U since launch, and I still think the writer could have come up with better reasons to get one. #1 was right on, but...Amiibo? Seriously? And why is the Virtual Console such a big screaming deal anyway? Have people really never thought of getting old consoles secondhand?

Two Words: New Zelda.

There, now you have reason to get a Wii U. (Note: If you needed a hundred other reasons, I could provide them, but you don't need them.)

The Wii U has the best exclusive games and NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION FEES!!!! Also, the new Star Fox is looking better than any game anticipated for 2016 on any system. I know people aren't reporting it, but it is Nintendo and Platinum Games together again! Did you even play Bayonetta 2?

Reason 1 : You have money to waste since console is dying , soon officially dead

Reason 2 : You have even more money since all of its games regardless how many years are in the market are full priced

Reason 3 : If you want another Dust collector since all youll play are 4-5 games most likely

Reason 4 : To support Nintendo since they doing the opposite to their fans by letting their systems in life support so early , lacking 3rd party support , lack of games in general. Be the example for them .

The only people that seem to hate on the Wii U are those that don't have it! I picked one up at the start of the year after an operation and I have been playing it ever since! I love this system! Every game I have played is A1 and original in concept and scope. I wasn't sure about Xenoblade until I started playing it. It is once again an a1 original game which has already had me joyfully clocking up the hours. I don't remember ever coming across a bug in a game. I want Nintendo to leave behind the "trying to get everyone into gaming thing" and just concentrate on making the most awesome games on the market (which they do anyway). There could be more titles but having said that, every title is mostly completely different from the next and there is no generic fillers. Note, most fps shooters haven't changed minus awesome skins, lighting and realtime events and if I want to play a game with superior graphics I play it on my pc, which I have to say has been rarely lately!

I bought my wii u to compliment my PC but last year and this year it has been my most played system. Here's my four reasons:

1. I love off-tv play and that alone makes the wii u gamepad my favorite gamepad ever and it's a shame it's been so derided because we might never see it's like again. The comfort of curling up in bed and playing games is probably a big reason why I ended up playing so much of the system.

2. As someone who doesn't always have free time for regular big action games and open world rpgs Nintendo supplys a wide range of platformers such as Yoshi's Wooly World which fit well into my life. Splatoon is made up of bite sized matches as is Mariokart and Smash. There are plenty of varied quality games that are worth your time yet don't sap ridiculous amounts of your free time.

3. Being a PC gamer, Nintendo is the only console dev that feels like they offer me something significant I don't already have. I have a 360 but ended up preferring to play all the games on PC. The nearest thing to Nintendo style games you get on PC are indie games. Nintendo is just different to the bulk of the industry. I would actually opt to get some multiplat games on wii u over PC because of off tv play (On the Wii U multiplat tends to mean mean indies).

4. Local multiplayer. There's a ton of it on the Wii U and whilst there were some on my 360 it was mainly shooters like gears of war, fighting games and some indies. Having a range of accessible quality games is so important when it comes to local multiplayer because you have to cater to a wide range of people. A local multplayer shooters only good if your friends are into local multiplayer shooters and beat em ups often require all participants to have played sufficient amounts of the game to be able to play at a similar level. Two years after release Super Mario 3D World it's still getting booted up for the local multiplayer. It's easy for people to pick up and play.

With all that said. If I was thinking of buying one now I'd be thinking about holding off for the nx... Even if the nx doesn't totally replace the wii u and doesn't offer backwards compatibility and off tv play (Both of which I imagine the nx won't have) I'd expect very cheap second hand wii us will become very common after the nx's release.

The last Nintendo system I bought was the N64 because of Mario 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time. (I have the 3DS but I don't consider that a console.) I don't think it is a wise move to purchase a WiiU with NX right around the corner. NX might have backwards compatibility. That would be huge for me because I really want to play Bayonetta 2.

The WiiU is a great video-game with a lot of impressive titles. If you wanna play WiiU games, just buy a WiiU. There's no point in buying a PS5 to play PS4 titles. This is totally non-sense. I agree 100% in Ashley Esqueda's opinion.

@myerlanski: Thanks for having a sense of humor and not cursing me out dude. I have a Wii U too and I'm a proud Nintendo supporter (since the NES), but Nintendo needs to do a little better in regards to building relationships with 3rd parties...and some stronger hardware wouldn't hurt. Til this day, I don't know why on Earth they let Microsoft buy Rare. Just imagine if Yooka-Layle and Killer Instinct were Wii U exclusives? Along with either a "true" sequel to Mario 64 or a Mario Galaxy sequel, the Wii U would still be selling like hotcakes. Along with SF:Zero and Link Wii U, they need a Metroid Prime game too. And I don't know what they were thinking when they allowed Itagaki to release The Devil's Turd. I just hope they learned from their mistakes to make the NX something truly special and innovative.

The NX will be here before we know it and has half a chance of ACTUALLY being decent unlike the Wii U.

Make a video of 4 reasons to sell your Wii U before it is worth less than the dust covering it and you'll be onto something.

Surprised the upcoming Zelda wasn't on the list but as far as I'm concerned the system is worth it for Smash alone. The backwards compatibility with Wii disks is huge as well as I'm currently drowning in end of gen Wii titles I missed like Skyward Sword, Other M and Last Story. Amiibo hunting can be fun if there's one you're particularly pulled to or need for a specific in-game bonus and I also love the option to play on TV or gamepad which I feel doesn't get nearly enough press.

Amiibos really?

I don't recommend to buy Wii U now, if you waited this long, you can probably wait for the NX, which is just around corner

- NX is probably backwards compatible, so you won't miss out if you wait
- Wii U doesn't have 3rd party support
- Wii U doesn't really big line of games, next year is especially dry
- Wii U is not really cheap, if you compared with Xbox One / PS4 bundles which has bigger a HDD and more functions

@TheZeroPercent: I agree with the Wii u needs to be cheaper considering it's more last gen then Next gen in comparison to Xbox one and Ps4 but disagree with 25 dollar games as that would just be stupid business wise since the hardware games are played on is not what determines the games pricing themselves games are a specific price for good reason as the games and accessories are where they make their money and profits make up for any losses they may have accumulated.

You know that normally when it comes to consoles they actually lose money with each consoles they sell at release and they do so to make consoles more appealing to the consumer and make up all the losses of each console sale and more through the games and accessories they sell in long run and of course with time the cost of production gets cheaper over time like anything else. With Wii U the biggest reason for the console prices was the console's gamepad more then it was the console itself which is probally now still expensive to produce. Just like with Xbox one removing the Kinect from being mandatory lowered the xbox one price tag a lot. This is why consoles stay on top of gaming industry and why it can compete with a non standardized platform like PC by staying more affordable , staying simple to use and game on, and of course most importantly the games as no matter what normally you will find the best experience for any AAA game will be on console due to better optimzation and stabiltiy that comes from being consoles being standardized and specifically for gaming alone.

You will find that with PC gaming that while you get more control it comes at a cost as due to everyone being able to upgrade and customize therefore owning different hardware your gaming experience will differ and vary based on the hardware you own and use and games can work great or you can have a hard time even getting the game to run at all or even staying stable if you do. For example a game may work better on Nvidia then AMD cards or vice versa, same applies to CPUs and OS you may have and even something like over locking can effect your game and keep it unstable so like I said have more control comes at a price as with PC gaming more know how and maintenance is required if you want to have the best experience possible something that is far less the case with the standardized console as if there are any issues its normally on dev side of things and quickly fixed for you not by you. So like I tell people both platforms has its pros and cons and worth owning for different reasons.

Not that hardware is what is most important it's not the games are but I game on PCs for high end and basically gaming over 1080p and getting frame rates over 60 FPS but when gaming 1080p or under and at 30 to 60fps I normally prefer my consoles. I didn't build a high end PC and buy a high end video card worth alone almost the cost of my xboxone, ps4, and Wii u to simply game at same resolution and FPS that I can get out of a next gen console that would be stupid. You can't beat 300 bucks for a gaming laptop and that is what Xbox one and ps4 basically is great deal of 900p to 1080p and 30 to 60fps is what your use to and all you need. I own and bought a ASUS ROG gaming laptop couple years ago for when I a, on the go and it cost me almost 2 grand and it can handle 1080p and 30 to 60 FPS np with any of today's games till even today but lol it cost me same price as the high end PC I built myself and a 300 dollar console that can more then match the performance and power I get out of that almost 2000 dollar gaming lab top I bought and own couple years ago. Anything over 1080p and 60fps you spend the money and go high end PC otherwise next gen consoles still best deal and bet for your money.

Four reasons I sold my WiiU-

Gamepad is clunky and decent alternatives are expensive

Splatoon was not as awesome as I was told (unnamed GS discussion quote) "As a platformer it's better than Mario Galaxy" LIES!!

The games I keep will probably work on next-years NX (Bayonetta collection and Donkey Kong TF)

NX is coming, sell WiiU while it's worth something

I have 4 reasons not to buy a Wii-U.

1. The price.

2. Lack of games for true gamers.

3. Its last gen.

4. Its a kiddie console.

Yes it has its exclusives. If your an adult like me. the xbone, PS4 an PC will have the better games. All in all. what ever floats your boat

@larsondir82: if you don't like Nintendo games that alone make you not a true gamer seriously Nintendo is why we have a lot of what we have to today with the gaming industry and their games are always memorable, top notch, fun for everyone, and so well optimized. Whether you like their consoles lately or not they deserve every true gamers respect no matter what platform you now game on if you a true gamer then you once were a Nintendo gamer that's for sure no matter what you have moved onto with age.

How many gaming companies that develop consoles and games you know that can survive without third party support and on sales of their first party games alone? also for what they helped create and start in the gaming industry as Nintendo was what brought gaming to the forefront when it was nothing and failing in its early days and believe it or not a lot of the innovation and even both good and bad that you see with consoles Nintendo created and thought of it first and if it turned out bad you can bet it was only due to timing not execution. when it comes to gaming industry timing can be everything as some consoles and companies have learned in the past.

Lastly Nintendo only home console left trying to stay just that a home console and not trying to become like anything else or a PC and basically a platform just for gaming. Every other console is trying to be more and basically in the process getting the cons that come with it like for example DRM something PC gamers can attest to being bad and now snuck its way onto home consoles as they try and become and do everything a platform like a PC can they also borrow the cons too that comes with being multiplatform like a PC.

Consoles are becoming less of about and what they were designed for which was games and fun and instead more complicated and more about what they can introduce and add so that they can milk the consumer further more then anything else and ever before and even change the policies in the process so that they get more control and every dollar they can as well. If I wanted a platform that does everything then my PC is enough that has never been why people buy consoles they buy them because of the affordability, convenience, simple to play, and fun with gaming at home the platform provides and nothing else. I fact if you read on up on history of gaming and consoles you would see that whole point of a home console was to create an affordable home computer not a PC to play just games nothing else and that could make gaming popular and that they accomplished that when companies like Nintendo came along onto the scene and perfected it further thankfully.

@toophat2014: LOL you calling me a not true gamer makes you less intelligent. Your only getting uptight because most people don't like The Wii-U. The only reason you and your child like friends love the Wii-U so much cause you have a mind of a child. No offense man but I was just posting my opinion and my dislike of the Wii-U.

Edit: and yes I know the the history of Nintendo. They where true innovators of gaming. Right now they have lost there touch.

--I understand gamers wanting more mature themed games(I am one of them)

--I'm not even sure what their plan was
--but everyone thought 3ds was gonna fail also
--and then they made PLENTY of EXCELLENT games for wiiU(like they did for 3ds)
--idk
--I don't think it was the 'lack of mature themes'
--I just think they went 'too safe'(with rehash style franchises and genres)

Actually, Nintendo's online store has these things for just $200 in pristine condition. I bought a second one from their store since I couldn't resist the price. You can't go wrong with their exclusives either, I agree with that point for sure.
