The best Spider-man game, but doesn't make this a classic game in itself. Good fun, not too long, but very repetitive.

User Rating: 7.8 | Ultimate Spider-Man PS2
This game is pretty easy to get into, and very fun during teh gameplay. The story is based off the Ultimate Spider-man comic series, and the cell shadeing makes this game feel like it is a comic. The controls are pretty smooth, and easy to get used too. You start off as Spider-man, but throuout the story mde you also get to play as his arch emey Venom. Very few differences are made in teh control sceem, but the gameplay fels like two seperate games. Spider-man can web swing and web up his ememies. Venom can jump very large distances and eat his emimies or innocent people for health. Both charaters are involved in a story involveing the Venom suit. The old fashioned "web swing on thin air" is gone, making this web swinging way harder but yet a lot more fun. The boss battles are pretty decent, but still could get better. Both Spider-man and Venom fight different villans, but fight each other too. Each boss fight between Spider-man and Venom, you are played as Spider-man. He is the hero of the game, but it would of been cool to play as Venom and fight Spider-man. The story it self is decent, and easy to get into. Besides teh story missions, tehre re many extra stuff to do, such as secret toekns to find and races to complete giveing this game a sort of Grand Theft Auto type feel. There are unlockables such as costumes (only for Spider-man) and concept art. After the story missions are ocmpleted, the "side" missions can get very repetitive, and very annoying, very easily. Truthfully, it kind of loses it's fun after you find your self doing the 30th race after you beat the story mode, and thinking that all the time and effort put into it isnt worth it for one costume. It is a fun game throughout the story mode, and for a little while after it. If you are a Spider-man fan then this is a must buy for you. if you are an average gamer, you would like this game throughout the story, but might nto be worth the $50 price tag. If you don't like Spider-man at all, then don't get this game.
