One beautiful but SERIOUSLY flawed game (an unbiased review)

User Rating: 7.5 | The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion PC
Maybe it's the fact that i got used to playing refined Japanese RPGs.
The Elder Scrolls Oblivion,, the game i tried and tried to go beyond its flaws.
Make no mistake this game has its moments of artistic genius, but the game mechanics/numbers and "leveling ups" isn't all that great.
I know a lot of fan-boys will be disappointed with this review,, but i write this dedicated to that poor Indian teen who's been thinking of buying this 5 year old game after the big price slash.

*amazing graphics even now in 2011 it looks superb and not many titles out there that can surpass this one as long as graphics are concerned
*This Elder Scrolls has a soundtrack that's best described as simply heartbreaking.. it's so beautiful you could shed a tear just listening to the music. The Music is THAT good,, and arguably the best soundtrack in gaming history.
*The game gives you a high sense of solidity,, it's gives me a sense of de ja vu.. i feel like I've always expected RPGs to be like this,,, ever since i played Mist back in the 90's I've always imagined a game like Oblivion to show up sometime.
*HUGE,, and not boringly huge,, but huge in a way i'd love to spend some time discovering this heaven.
*Classic,, yes, rarely do i find a game that i can describe as simply classic,, oblivion is an example of how well crafted and classic a video game can be.

*too many glitches,, it's kind of funny sometimes to see a wall talking to you or a man walking in an awkward way.
*Music is repetitive,, even though i simply adore the music,, it would be nice if some cities had their unique music just so that they'd have their own being and essence.
*Enemies ruin the calmness,, a lot of times when i'm walking on the mountains and enjoying the scenery and music,, an enemy comes by and the music changes and ruins the mood.
*pointless magic and potions,,, i mean when i'm fighting enemies it's kinda unpractical to push the menu button and search for that darn potion WTH?
*Vampire? are you kidding? the point where i said good bye to the game is when i got infected with the vampire disease,, first of all i was on a quest to close this oblivion gate,, i had no armor.. the places that sell armor closed at night, and i couldn't visit them during daytime.. I mean did the developers seriously not notice this huge flaw? what was i suppose to do?
*money not easily earned... i'm in my 30th hour of gameplay and i''m still struggling with money.. am i missing something?
*cheats ruined everything.. i mean when your stuck with no money,, the sun burning your hp,, the temptation for cheating money and god mode is just too much,, which is exactly what i did..
*i can't buy any equipment,, the sellers say they won't deal with the likes of me... WTH did i do wrong this time? and how should i fix this?
*the quest target disappears from the map sometimes,,, so the quest description says you should return to the guy you came from before completing the quest.. DUDE!! this place is gigantic! how am i supposed to remember where the guy i came from is?
*i find myself checking out youtube just to see where i should go next,,,, not a good sign.

Overall i'm not gonna bash this games even with all its flaws,, it's an overall good experience,, but i hope Bethesda fixes the issues in the upcoming Elder Scrolls.
I will buy Elder Scrolls 5
If you haven't played Oblivion then you should at least try it out,,, it would be the best first RPG experience for older and younger people.
