Sonic Riders attempts to do what Sonic R could never do. Find out on this review.
Gameplay: 6/10
No the gameplay is fairly easy, but some factors take the fun away. If you run out of air for boosting, your character has to go on his feet and run to the nearest pit. Also The turns on some levels are designed for skill and frustration. You can have both in one race almost every time. The story is a bit sub par...making it the usual Dr. Robotnik trying to make a plan to use the chaos emeralds, and Sonic is there to foil his plans. I don't mind that, but to get the emerald by winning races? It would have been better if they removed the story factor and worked on the game mechanics.
Graphics: 8/10
On all 3 versions the game looks crisp. The boards and levels has is unique touch to it, and Sonic looks like good ol' self. However...I must comment that if the gameplay gets you frustrated, you won't be enjoying the scenary of the tracks because you are going way to fast.
Sound:
The sounds of the air boards has little but noticeable uniqueness. Omochan is very very annoying, but plays a bit of a good role, and we all get the B- voice actors to give life into the game.
Value: 7/10
I would say for the casual gamer that plays racing games, this is a unique twist to a car and raceway, and will give you some, if any, lift from your traditional GT or Burnout. I would recommend renting it first. For avid Sonic fans that are more harcore than me: Rent or Buy it. The choice is up to you
