Silent Hunter II

Played Silent Hunter I for years... Upgraded to SH2. Great game let down by linear campaign.

Submarine sims have been top of my list of games since Silent Service. Drooled over Silent Hunter then played it whenever I could. Sinking more than 3 Yamato class, etc. was a bit strange but otherwise THE best game of the genre in the 1990s.

Just got SH2 and im full of mixed emotions. The graphics and screens etc are very detailed and interesting. Learning test depths and other technical data, not only in metres, but the wide array of technology available all helps to make it immersive.

This game is nearly 10 years old so its no point whinging now apart from, hopefully, SH5(?) will be as addictive as SH1, with just even better graphics and sound.

The linear campaign game ruined this game. All I wanted was a theatre of operations, a loaded boat and a crew.
I'll try SH3 next.......
