Silent hill's next gen debut is a joke
the bad:just about everything else
SH;homecoming is a shocking attempt of bringing new ideas to a new generation of console. i spent several hours playing and by the time i got some light on the plot it felt boring uninteresting to continue. before i knew it, i was trading it in for something abit more worth the money.
the problem with silent hill is that its atmosphere tends to slowly become the norm and although it added fear into playing, it didnt seem to make me want to continue playing, instead i dreaded coming across a monster because of the awful combat system.
silent hill's combat system has always been abit of a weak point in the series but everything else in the game from the scary bits to the creepy story lines and grotesque monsters stuck out as an original idea. you find yourself getting frustrated with the fact that the game is slow paced and you dont feel the vibe like you used to and before you know it, the classic parts that made silent hill a top survival horror are out dated and constantly being recycled.
stick with the classics, especially 2 and 3. in the meantime, konami have some hard work ahead of them if they are going to impress or at least leave a mark in the next gen console with their next title. its a real shame though, silent hill is a good franchise that ironically is ruining its formula.
