Exactly what I wanted, nothing more and nothing less.

User Rating: 9 | Silent Hill: Homecoming PS3
Silent Hill Homecoming nails the basics, but doesn't really move the franchise forward. While the atmosphere is just right, the puzzles seem to be pretty generic and unimaginative for the most part. This entry focuses more on characters and their role in the plot, unlike earlier entries where you just meet them for a brief moment and they only talk in riddles. The story is pretty much straightforward, but it can take a while for it to come together. There is still some room left for guessing what is actually going on, and that's what its all about in the streets of Silent Hill.

Combat has been improved to the point that it becomes easy to take everyone down with melee weapons. If you study enemy patters for a few minutes, including bosses, you can easily finish the game with only the knife, you won't even need any health packs or ammo. The plot might tie in with Silent Hill The Movie at some points so I suggest you watch it first, and if you liked the movie, you will probably like Homecoming also. It's actually hard for me to find things that are bad here. Everything that needs to be here is here and it makes it a worthwhile Silent Hill experience.
