Words don't do this game justice, only you playing it will.

At least a year or more before its release, i had seen some news here & there on the game but no advertisement whatsoever. Then it just disappeared. After that year or so went by, i suddenly see it behind the glass in Target. Talk about staying below radar.

So i get home and start playing it. This game is beautiful. Simply beautiful. The music, the environments, the ambience, the story, even the lack of spoken English all set a certain mood that leaves you in a trance... which you are quickly snapped out of when face-to-foot with each and every towering colossus you must vanquish. And they definitely don't want to be vanquished.

The gameplay is perfect. The controls are simple enough to master immediately, which is how you'd want it since you don't want anything too complicated when trying to kill a giant made of dirt, rock, stone, fur & whatever else comprises the genetic building blocks of beings so massive. To some players, the game is a little too easy but that's why there's a hard difficulty unlocked after beating it once. Try playing that and tell me it's still too easy.

The graphics, although some would say are not on par with the capabilities of the PS2, are just right in my opinion. The cinematics literally flow seamlessly into real-time, controllable action because the graphics are all the same throughout. And the environments are so huge, any more improvements on graphics would require loading times for each area (which there are currently none, thank jeebus) and possibly some lag when the action starts.

Now i'll agree with the masses, that the game is short. They say just rent it, you could beat it in a week. And they'd be right. But the environment is so huge! Ride around and just check out the scenery - searching for colossi forces you to check out the scenery, anyway. And once you find each one, you've still got to spend time figuring out how to kill it. And taking down a giant is incredibly satisfying - you're gonna want to play the game more than once, i promise.

Beautiful game, beautiful story, beautiful everything.
