Good story, bloody and creepy. Horrible fighting system though. Not a bad game.

User Rating: 7.5 | Saw PS3
The first SAW movie was filmed in 2004 and was completed in just 8 days. SAW quickly became the new horror series that everyone had to see. Will the game live up to the movies?

Graphics - 7.75/10

The games graphics are not going to amaze you but they are perfect for this game. Dark and creepy is what you get through the entire game. Much like the movies, you will rely on your lighter, flashlight, camera flash, and whatever you can to survive. The environments are pretty detailed and the characters do not look too shabby either. The graphics really set the mood and make you feel like you are definately playing a SAW game.

Sound - 9/10

While playing SAW you will hear many ambiant noises. Other trapped people screaming for help. Dripping water, rats running and knocking things over. Gas and water pipes clanking, and Jigsaw's creepy voice. All of the sounds are vital to this game. There is no backround music to help juice up the suspense. The object was to make you feel like you are experiencing an anxiety attacking feeling while playing. Konami has done a pretty good job with that one.
All of the voice-overs are very well scripted and acted as well.

Concept - 8/10

You are detective Tapp. Because of you there are many people stuck in this huge building with devices mounted on their heads. You have the key inside of you that will unlock these devices. I do not want to get in to too much detail as I do not want to ruin the entire story for you. But the story is very good and much like the SAW movies.
You will go through meeting people that you arrested and they are all there because they are being punished for their deeds. You yourself are no peach. You are also there for a reason......

Gameplay - 7.5/10

The game is in a 3rd person perspective and the controls themselves are not perfect. Fighting is probably the worst part of this game. Many times I will try to hit or punch and nothing happens. If you are too close to the enemy they will hit you but you can not hit back. I have to take a few steps back and try to hit. Once you start hitting they pretty much do nothing until they are dead.
The character movements are pretty basic. Move around with the left joystick and look around with the right stick. To hit you need to hold L2 and then hit either square or X.
You can also set traps for the others. You can make trip mines and stun mines to name a few. You will be able to find many weapons throughout the game. Crutches, mop handle, bricks, pipes, guns, bats, etc.
The game mostly relies on the puzzles and not the fighting.
The puzzles really make this game more fun that it actually is. There are a few puzzles that will take some time to complete. The pipe dial puzzle is the hardest puzzle in the game in my opinion. You will see what I mean when you get to it.
There all also locked doors and cabinets that you can pick. These puzzles are not hard at first but the further along the game you get the harder the puzzles get.

Overall - 7.5/10

Despite the higher scores in the beginning of the review I felt I needed to lower the score for a few reasons. Lack of multiplayer and there is also zero replay value to this game. Once you beat the game you will have no reason to play it again.
The game feels true to the movie and SAW fans will love this game. The trophies are incredibly easy to achieve and the game is pretty lengthy. I am not even half way through and I put about 4hrs in to the game so far. I figure the game is about 8hrs or longer.

With that all said I have to give this game Lethal's "Rent first" stamp of approval.

Pros:
Feels and looks just like the movies
Many easy trophies (for trophy wh0re's)
Interesting story
Lots of puzzles

Cons:
No Replay value
No multiplayer
Poor fighting controls
