Resident Evil Zero just isn't as scary as Resident Evil. It still uses the outdated control scheme, which although you may be used to, is still hard to perfect precise control. But, the game plays pretty much the sames as RE, where you collect items, solve puzzles, and fight off zombies and other creatures. The main reason why I buy RE games is for the horror. Resident Evil (GCN) scared the daylights out of me in several areas. However, RE Zero failed to shock and terrorize as much. The graphics, if you ask me, look worse than the graphics in RE. Now, the pre-rendered backdrops seem to have a fuzzy look to them, and the resolution actually looks a little lower. But hey, it still looks extremely realistic, just not as good as RE. The 5.1 surround sound is nice in this game. It's intense, and the music alone is probably the single most horrifying aspect of this game (so are the camera angles). But the footsteps of Billy and Rebecca don't sound as good as they could have been. As a prequel to RE, this game does a decent job at filling in the story for the RE series. Basically, if you liked RE, then buying this game is probably worth it, but don't expect any drastic improvements over RE.
