Back in the day when story-lines didn't matter and gameplay was the center of attention Contra 3: The Alien Wars came about. It had a mediocre story but some kickass gameplay. What's better than blasting aliens with 2 huge guns at the same time? NOTHING. The game even had an amazing co-op mode which is a lot of fun when you're playing with a skilled partner. The game itself isn't very difficult. Just jump when lazer beams come at you and you'll be fine. They even had some top-down view missions where it was like 2-ish 3D.

Bottom line: if you have a buddy and want to have a good 30-40 minutes of fun then go to your local game store and buy this game.
