Blogging

Well, I have a blog on blogspot and Im on with it rather than this one on GS because Im more into tech as a whole than just Gaming!

well, the link is below. Due to this bug in GS, Im leaving a space b/n every two letters/characters. Omit the spaces to get the right link!

Holidays...!

@ all...

The exams...boring, moronic, troublesome..as you may call them...are finally over at my place, and I have got time to breathe, something that I'd getting to do after first of June...!

This time, unlike other breaks, that I had spent aimlessly, I had a few things lined up.

Talking to my friend, I got the CDs of Age Of Empires III: War Chiefs, Need For Speed: Prostreet and Doom 3, Call of Duty 2...good ones to play, IMO.

Next, with Brisingr realeasing at the end of last month, I had fortunately got it for my Birthday, which was on 21st of September.

AOE III

The game was good, worth my time, and the pirated disc I had installed the game using. Some characters like Amelia Black and Pierre Beaumont were excellently featured, and the last movie strip/cut scene, which was just after we finished the last level of that 3rd Act, is an awesome motion picture that entranced me for a while.

Also fascinating me were the swaying of ships, and the wonderful cheat that my friend had told, which would create a monster truck that would destroy anything and everything on land. I used the cheat sparsely though, so I could derive complete gaming experience.

Otherwise, the graphics of cannons, locomotives......and the story was a good one, compable to many other games of high stature...!

NFS Prostreet

I had actually bought the game for my brother, who liked more of racing games than any other.

The gaming experience started with a wonderful protest by the install wizard that seemed to bother me for while. After a good advice from lightwarrior, it did work, and it was nice to play, but for the same old theme of the racing genre. It was quite sometime since I had played a racing game since the last game I had played before, of this genre was NFS Underground 1, which released about 4 years ago, I believe....(my memory'e getting bad...!)

As always, the cars looked good, which din't take to my fancy, but handling was much different from the previous ones...and a good time I had with it.

Doom3

What do I say about this one...? Its an excelent one...as far as I've played it....)I only started it today) and the constraints of mask, torch and single handedness tested my speed and agility....really..!

As for Call Of Duty, Im yet to start it, and I shall tell you when I do.

Now, to Brisingr.

I had started reading the book on the day my holidays had started, 4th Oct, and finished the book yesterday. The book stands apart from any other fantasy book I've ever seen, even from its own prequels. The standard, and the age group of story exactly fit my level of comprehension, and thus I best understood this book, than any other.

Some quips from the book:

>> The Book does not reveal anything about the third rider at all....and nor do any of the characters bother much about it.

>>Eragon is pleased to get a new sword at last, which he names 'Brisingr'. The coolest part about the sword, I shall reveal not.

>>Eragon meets a god.

>>Oromis, and Glaedr, instructors of Eragon and his dragon, Saphira reveal the secret behind Galbatorix's increasing strength, and thus a potential vulnerability.

Some of the spoilers, that are actually obvious.

>>Roran and Katrina get married, and expect a child.

>>Orik is the successor of Dwarf King Hrothgar

>>Brom is Eragon's dad, and not Morzan.

Im really sorry for crushing your suspenses from the book, but I ought to share this with someone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, I shall conclude this blog here, and withdraw for a good night's sleep..!

So that's it,

Go you idiots..catch him...or Destroy the Land..!!!

Well, the heading is actually a quote taken from Blitzkrieg, an animated movie that I, lightwarrior, and other friends made sometime around the New Year's Day...

What I could call special is that we made the movie completely using PowerPoint and with really good voice modulation by lightwarior179 and another frined of mine who wishes to call himself by the ironic name "scholar."

Basically the movie gives a crude picture about alien abduction and how it results in a cross-species war.

Story:

Here's the forward of the movie, "Every night, man gets some sleep, satisfied by the feeling that he is safe and no one is watching him. But is that real?

Other worldly watchers, look up and constantly watch every move of man, noting every step of development.

But this had not always been like what it is now.

Years, millenia ago, lived prosperously the Onres, on the planet Trantor, all well until sudden lighting flashes sprang up from the skies, turning each of these creatures into ashes in the recent past.

One group of Onres, the Zeds, survived the frightful lighting war, constructed a small, safe place to live and to investigate what all was…

And then, during their exploration, they saw hazardous machines which man called satellites, triggered radio signals that caused the lightning bolts…

They monitored the moves of man, trying to find a suitable moment…and then in the twenty first day of the seventh month of the seventh year of earth's second millenium….Blitzkrieg…"(this might get lightwarrior little nostalgic...!)

On hearing about UFOs being spotted near the fictitious Robinson Street, Mike, the protagonist sets off to look for the 'Aliens' supposedly coming from Planet Trantor, of Waxy-Way Galaxy:). Shortly after he is abducted by the aliens and taken to the planet,he is put in a Glass Prison, but soon miraclously escapes when a plate containing Pizza, served by the Alien to Mike, falls down, jamming the components of the Glass Prison.

Finding his way out, Mike takes one of those spaceships and safely returns home, but in the process, lures hundreds of such Aliens, or Zeds, to attack Earth. Saving Earth using wits and simple common sense forms rest of the story.

Characters:

The caracters of Blitzkrieg, namely, Mike, The Aliens, Mike's secretery, The Television Reporter, Some of the humans on Earth, and the Master of the aliens were all designed using Microsoft Paint, and Power Point, by another friend of ours, AB.

Many vistas and cityscapes were downloaded from the net, deserving nothing special to be talked about.

Experience in THE MAKING:

On the whole, The Making of Blitzkrieg took about a month since we had completely depended on our school resources to create it from scratch. But the journey was memorable and still a few incidents stay fresh in my mind, where lightwarrior gave the idea of crushing plastic bags, and tearing pieces or paper to give the crackling effect of a radio, also an excellent accent and vocabulary regarding the militiary terms such as Roger That and stuff, which are not heard in daily life, unless one has an abiding love for action games, which I don't.

Also, it helped us a lot from the perspective of skipping ****s big time and seeking justification from our computer science faculties who were proud of techies at school. The movie was set during the annual science fair, known as 'Spectra' where we were also given a chance to set up stals allowing kid visitors to play computer gams for a limited time.

End Note:

In a country like India, where nothing is more prominent than textbooks and rote memory in our system of education, we, or Psychohistorians(thats what we called the production unit, in the movie) had a chance to break through the conventional mode, and learn a lot of things such as teamwork, perseverence, and most important, loads about computers..!!!

Taking this as an oppurtunity, I would like to thank my friend, lightwarior, who recently shifted half way across the country, and others, AB and "scholar" who taught me what it takes create an art...!!!

Three Cheers to the Psychohistorians...:) :)

End of Earth..?

Hello guys,

Heard about End of the earth, or what is called Armageddon or the Apocalypse..?

Of course, I am talking about the world's largest experimental venture, the Large Hadron Collider, which should have supposedly caused the end of the Earth, or probably the whole universe.

Junk apart, what do you think is LHC...?

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of protons with very high kinetic energy. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. It is theorized that the collider will confirm the existence of the Higgs boson, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and missing links in the Standard Model, and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass. The LHC was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and lies underneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. It is funded by and built in collaboration with over eight thousand physicists from over eighty-five countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories. The LHC is already operational and is presently in the process of being prepared for collisions. The first beams were circulated through the collider on 10 September 2008, and the first high-energy collisions are planned to take place after the LHC is officially unveiled on 21 October.Although a few individuals questioned the safety of the Large Hadron Collider in the media and through the courts, the consensus in the scientific community is that there is no conceivable threat from the LHC particle collisions.

Purpose

When in operation, about seven thousand scientists from eighty countries will have access to the LHC. It is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson, the last unobserved particle among those predicted by the Standard Model. The verification of the existence of the Higgs boson would shed light on the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, through which the particles of the Standard Model are thought to acquire their mass. In addition to the Higgs boson, other particles predicted by possible extensions of the Standard Model might be produced at the LHC. More generally, physicists hope that the LHC will enhance their ability to answer the following questions:Is the Higgs mechanism for generating elementary particle masses in the Standard Model indeed realised in nature? If so, how many Higgs bosons are there, and what are their masses?

  1. Are electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force just different manifestations of a single unified force, as predicted by various Grand Unification Theories?
  2. Why is gravity so many orders of magnitude weaker than the other three fundamental forces? See also Hierarchy problem.
  3. Is Supersymmetry realised in nature, implying that the known Standard Model particles have supersymmetric partners?
  4. Will the more precise measurements of the masses and decays of the quarks continue to be mutually consistent within the Standard Model?
  5. Why are there apparent violations of the symmetry between matter and antimatter? See also CP-violation.
  6. What is the nature of dark matter and dark energy?
  7. Are there extra dimensions, as predicted by various models inspired by string theory, and can we "see" them?

Of the possible discoveries the LHC might make, only the discovery of the Higgs particle is relatively uncontroversial, but even this is not considered a certainty. Stephen Hawking said in a BBC interview that "I think it will be much more exciting if we don't find the Higgs. That will show something is wrong, and we need to think again. I have a bet of one hundred dollars that we won't find the Higgs." In the same interview Hawking mentions the possibility of finding superpartners and adds that "whatever the LHC finds, or fails to find, the results will tell us a lot about the structure of the universe."

Computing Resources

The LHC Computing Grid is being constructed to handle the massive amounts of data produced by the Large Hadron Collider. It incorporates both private fiber optic cable links and existing high-speed portions of the public Internet, enabling data transfer from CERN to academic institutions around the world. The distributed computing project LHC@home was started to support the construction and calibration of the LHC. The project uses the BOINC platform to simulate how particles will travel in the tunnel. With this information, the scientists will be able to determine how the magnets should be calibrated to gain the most stable "orbit" of the beams in the ring.

Exhilerating, ain't it...?

Well, also big are costs, the number of countries converging for this particular venture and risks.

By the way, I think you people should be knowing about CERN if you have read the popular novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown.

Now that there is authentic information put in front of you, what do you think...? Will earth be really destroyed in a period of time, or during the upgraded venture of this experiment, The Super Large Hadron Collider..?

Think about it...

Evolution Of Nintendo Characters

Here's an interesting pic that I discovered during my travels in the internet. It surely shows the progress the gaming world has made, or rather what Nintendo has..

This the world of games....m proud to be a negligible part of it...!

Excerrpt from The Templar Of Light

Here's an excerpt from the story I'm on,

The Templar Of Light

Chapter 13: The Templar Of Light

"Friends and dear humans,

Come I thither, to impart to thine years,

The lore of my long lived years,

Heed me well,

Therein does the ancient wisdom dwell

Eons ago, when the Earth was still new,

Flourish'd all races of the sixth sinew,

The Humans, the dwarves, the rowels, the dodans, the elves

And the others living in deeper dvelves,

Harmoniously did they live,

Bound'd by oth of love,

Lorded by the Templars of Light,

Heralders of peace, foes of fight,

Lived men, free of spirit,

Ruled bynone of a feudal merit,

Sheperded by one'w own kith,

Evaded the doom of war and death,

Sharp shone the sword,

Gleaming like the very crown of Gods,

Own'd by the Templars of Light,

Loan'd power and might"

This is posted on a request by lightwarrior, who was apparently interested in my story from the beginning...

Templar, Vedicpi

Need ur help guys!

Recently, I attended an IT quiz in my city, by Tata Consultancy Services. And I think the finals(national) are going to be held in Mumbai(though I'm not selected).

The quiz was really awesome, and anyone who would take part in it would surely want to participate in it once again!!! Just the same way I would.

So, it is basically on latest IT technologies, name of companies, History of IT,and IT personalia (prominent figures in the field of Information Technology).:)

I would be very thankful to you friends if you could get me some things from now onwards, so that I can start preparing myself for next year's TCS IT Quiz. Or even something similar this year itself.

Please!!!
