the potential is still there, any sony has at least shown that they are aware of and working on the things people want. technically they gave us what they promised, even if it all seems a little half-assed and thrown-together.

almost the entire xmb is locked out in-game except for a few (key) features, which makes me wonder why the whole thing needs to load (really shows laziness here). i don't really need it loading up menus for system setup i can't access, videos, games, photos, etc....

music, bluetooth, friends list, psn, trophies, downloads, browser, and a clock could have been organized on a small taskbar under the old ps button menu...

overall, just relieved i don't have to quit games for these few things anymore.

if you liked pixeljunk monsters (aka tower defense), try this free flash variation for the pc. it should be played by everyone and it's an incredibly addicting genre. q-games did a great job bringing this type of game to the psn.

don't forget mk II.

its a radeon x1300 512mb Sapphire

i think your agp (guessing) card has probably seen better days, and it's known to be a dog, but it should do for now as long as you're not expecting miracles. i would HIGHLY recommend getting another gig of ram (~$100, and don't forget to buy in pairs) and a card like 7600gs if/when you can afford it. you'd max out your old machine and it'd be alright for gaming for another year. then you can start saving for a new one.

xbox wheel is a joke for someone looking at pure sims and a g25.

on the computer side, get another gig of ram - it'll make a huge difference. not sure exactly what 1300 u have, but it should be enough for med settings on a game like gtr2/race.

both are good games - vt is more pick-up-n-play and top spin is a little more tactical.  if mario tennis is your style (mt64 is one of my fav tennis games of all time), vt3 is for you.

i know you had issues running ts, but i had no problems w/ my 6800gt.  not taxing at all really.

basersx

I have a 6800GT and the game is not playable at 1280x1024!  TS is good on 360 but crap on PC.  That is why Virtual Tennis is better.  You would have to prove to me with a FRAPS video that TS runs well at all on your 6800GT because I know it doesn't.  You must just tolerate very low frame rates and buggy game play.

jebus you're testy.  i don't have it installed atm, but i'll post a video tonight and if you want it that bad.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault
Call of Duty
Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix
Battlefield 2

FireBurger

good list of online fpss.  throw in cs (not source) and desert combat (bf1942) for good measure.

good to finally see something about cod4 - even if it didn't contain gameplay material.  i've been waiting for a decent arcade shooter based on modern warfare, and i'm glad it's the iw guys.  hopefully the story will be somewhat based on actual events and not a completely fictional time/setting/conflict.

here's to modern combat...  oorah

2.  Dont bother with iron sights.  yes, you heard me...dont use them.  They dont actually increase accuracy; a still player using iron sights is no more accurate than a still player not using iron sights.  In addition, using iron sights severely limits your field-of-view, meaning that if you do use them you can only see your target, not the three or four other targets which will need quick follow-up shots on.  While not totally useless (i use them with my shotgun when headshotting those speedy mutants) they are, in general, a waste of time.

mrbojangles25

sounds illogical, but this is good advice for stalker.  for whatever reason, you have a much better chance of hitting your target by shooting from the hip with just the crosshairs (w/ hit confirm) than with ironsights.  it's unfortunate that this aspect of gunplay is...  broken.  i hope they fix it.

it's... alright. i don't think it's worth $40 though.

the 'wow' factor wears off pretty quick. it's got a lot of potential, but poor physics and overal gameplay mechanics leaves you wanting more... and ripped off. it looks great in screenshots, but not in motion.

Dracunos

It's on XBox 360 and PS2. edit I know it's fricken on PC :p This is a PC Forum, that was granted. I said it's on console, which is a fact supplimental to the granted information :p

what

I think the game looks pretty good graphicswise in motion. Very cheesy over-the-top ish action movie style, especially when skydiving, guns blazing, auto-targetting (while skydiving it helps you target even on pc), blowing stuff up.

But yeah, I don't think it's a '40 dollar game', especially considering it's what.. a year old now? Feels like it.

But I like it. I appreciate very much uniqueness, and you can tell the creators of this game didn't do what a lot of people do, which is basically copy EXACTLY the 'FPS template' or 'GTA template', and write a new story, and throw it at you, and maybe add a single thing in it to pretend it's different. They built this game ground up as a pretty different experience and I like having had that experience. Might not be the amount of hours of fun that I'd consider worth 40 dollars of my money, but I personally appreciate a game like that enough to be okay with having paid for it, hard to explain I guess

Dracunos

the game does look good when you're flying or skydiving - it's got decent lighting effects.  the missions were just so damn lame and when you add the clunky gameplay mechanics, it quickly becomes a chore to go through the game.  the best part of the game is just messin around, and while skydiving/basejumping is pretty fun (esp w/ the grappling gun chain system), it gets old pretty fast.  i'd say wait until it's like $20 and buy yourself a game w/ more value for the moment.
