What's this?

A Blog? Wow... it has been many months since my last one. I actually forgot how to do the tags for my font. How very sad.

It was a tough year last year. I lost my job (nothing I did, they just can't afford me anymore) and haven't been able to get another one. Got sick and had to go through a the whole medical testing thing again and busted my back a couple of times (bulging discs, yay!).

I was hoping that this year would be better but it began with my Grandfather having a fall on New Years Day and going into hospital. He developed pneumonia and passed away at 5am last Thursday. His Funeral is tomorrow. He was 93 years old, so he did well. He was so lonely the last couple of years without my Grandmother and I pray that he is now reunited with her.

Loff and hugs to you all.

Almost ran over a doggy!!! :-(

There is an old gentleman who lives in my area and owns three little dogs. He can't walk well, but has a little scooter that he drives around on, with his three little dogs running along behind him. Normally I think it's quite cute, but not after today.

Today, as I was driving to the supermarket, one of those little dogs decided that the road was the best place to be and ran out into the middle of my side of the road. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid running it over, as it stood staring at it's owner. The poor man was yelling and frantically trying to get off the scooter to get to the little brat.

It took quite some time afterward for my heart to slow down again and my hands to stop shaking. This is why my dog is never allowed off her lead.

Ants, Snakes and Slugs, Oh My!

That is what my last three blogs have been about.

All I can say is be grateful that I haven't gotten started on the mice, moths and millipedes. The MMM's. Till now that is.

That would be mice that make Sassy fall over in fright and hurt her shoulder, then tease and torment Leah till she snatches them up in her little mouth before dropping them in disgust so they can crawl into the heater and DIE leaving us to get pliers and drag their little bodies out through the vent by their dead little tails. Our house is a warzone with poison everywhere behind barriers built to keep Leah from sampling said poison.

That would also be the moths that flutter around outside desperately trying to find the light, all the while battering their little moth bodies in vain against the windows and then when Sassy dares to take the dog outside they chase her up the ramp to the back door where she slams the door in their little moth faces while trying to work out how best to let the dog in without the moths coming in with her.

And lastly the millipedes that have decided to turn the house into their own little version of an elephant graveyard. They aren't scary, or harmful... they just like to come inside our house to DIE. Yay us.

Thus concludes the series of blogs dedicated to the wonderful inhabitants of Sassy's house. Till something new shows up that is. Much loff to you all!

*squish* Huh? Ew!!!

I just stepped on a slug. With no shoes on. Or socks. Just my nekkid foot. And a slug. Meeting in the dark on a cold winters night. *shudders*

Ah well, I scrubbed them both up nice and clean (even the one without the slime on it). Now my feet smell like lemon myrtle. All's well that ends well I guess. :)

I am of course rather sad that my first blog in almost three months was about a dead slug.

Snakes alive!

There are live snakes in my garden!

Okay, okay, there was only one and it was a baby, but the fact that it looked very much like a black snake (which is a deadly one) and the fact that my dog Leah was the one that found it scares the bejeezus out of me.

I think I preferred the dead one that we found in the backyard a few months back. Sure, Leah rolled in it, but at least it couldn't bite her!

My skin has yet to stop crawling... I am gonna have nightmares tonight!

A Tip for all dog owners.

I found out something interesting today and thought that I would share it with you all.

"A dog does not like to eat food that is swarming with ants".

Who knew?

So much for her bowl being an "Ant Free" bowl. What a waste of money that was.

Hope that you all find that little tidbit useful. Nighty night!

It goes by so fast.

I can't believe that it has been a whole year since Drea left us.

I miss you girl and think of you often. Hope that you're showing them all how to roll wherever you are now. Loff ya always!

Nine long years...

Today is the nine year anniversary of the day I picked Leah up from the pound. A horrid looking little thing she was. Nothing but skin and bones, mange on her head, fly bites on her ears and no skin on her snout from sticking it through the bars. I will never forget the look of horror on my mother's face when I bought home something that looked more like a deformed rat than a dog . It took a little while, but she gained weight and healed and turned into quite the pretty little lass.

Her little puppy dog eyes just melted my heart and she has had me wrapped around her little paw ever since. T'was a good choice, though I'm the first to admit it hasn't always seemed that way. Nine years of love and laughter from a little angel in disguise.

"No photos today Mummy. I'm shweepy".

And just to clarify about the photos in my previous blog, I did not actually put the cover over her. She's an expert at burrowing under blankets and making little cocoons for herself. When she gets too hot she sticks her head out and sleeps like a human. It's just adorable. :)

She has what?

Leah has kennel cough (tracheobronchitis).

She shouldn't have it. She's been vaccinated against it every year since I got her in 1999. And yet she does.

She was so healthy until about 18 months ago. Then her health just went nuts. *sigh* Sometimes I think this dog just does it for the attention (like she doesn't get enough  ). That or to make me cry.
