@reindertot See, there's you assuming any game that makes you think must be a strategy game. There are defining elements in every genre. Yes, FM has a lot of strategy involved, but if you really want to get close to football(or soccer, as they call in parts of the world with the highest game sales), FM's the way to go.

If you want to nitpick, then I'd call FIFA a squad-based action game. Hey, you control a bunch of characters and make them do stuff. Now why does it fall under the sports category? Because it's a proper sport themed game, just as FM is.

@Tykain Sports category basically refers to sports themed games and FM belongs to Sports more than it belongs to Strategy as far as gaming is concerned

Why do people have such an aversion to games that make you think? Mindless button-mashing is so cool? Too many people have panned the choice of FM here. Gaming is more than button mashing.
