*holy cowbell this blog is longer than I thought it'd be after finishing typing it up... good luck reading it and have fun :P but it still doesn't beat a LONG blog from bullet :o
Yeah that's right... me and three friends are making a band. We've codenamed it BRAJ Band, pronounced like barrage, but we're still in the early stages. Funny how it kind sounds like... Garage Band... just thought of that now for some reason. The reason why it is BRAJ is because... well our names are Bee, Randy, Andrew (me) and Justin. Take the first letter of our names and there you go... I came up with the name BTW  and it stuck. So for now we're using it as a "code name" because we still really haven't fully decided. As for who has which part here it is... Bee has Bass/Piano (he is one of the best piano players I know of but right now he's learning bass for our band), Randy has Rythym and Bass if Bee is playing the piano (he actually knows how to play these), I have the drums and Justin has the Lead Guitar/Vocals. Justin and Randy are brothers... and they know a lot about guitars. As for me... all I've been doing is studying up on drums like crazy and I've learned A LOT.
I'm also trying to decide on which drum set to get right now and I should be getting one in the next few months because we are going to start practicing together as soon as I get it. Though before I get it I have to clean out my basement as we've decided that's the main hang out/practice place. And yeah... my basement is REALLY packed with junk, once the snow is gone from the icy cold Minnesota we're gonna rent a dumpster thing and get rid of the junk in the basement... then we're turning it into an entertainment place/our band's hangout. By entertainment place I mean my mom is getting an HDTV, probably 46"-52" and the whole shabang (you know, surround sound, couches, etc.). Oh yeah, back to drums, I'm exclusively getting Japanese drums because damn right I'm biased so which drum company would you go with? Tama or Pearl? You can base it on randomness, on the names or if you actually know anything about them. I DO know that the drummer for ENOZ in Haruhi Suzumiya uses a Pearl BUT the AWESOME drummer here uses a Tama... and the little drum solo/pause thing he added around 3:35 is flippin awesome. Also I'm going to get the SAME drum cymbals that guy in the video is using which if you don't know what cymbals are... they are those gold/brown plate things at the top of the drum. Well actually I'm going to run the same setup except for one of those cymbals which I won't go into detail because you guys might just get lost.
Well as for practice and why I'm playing drums? I first tried and saw drumming up close and personal at my brother's church and all the people at his church... are musically talented... they all can play guitar (lead, rythym, bass, you name it) AND drums O_O But yeah that's what first got me interested... plus the fact that I don't really know anyone outside of that church that played drums well so I wanted to get good at it for the sake of uniqueness.. because apparently I do know a lot of people who play the guitar. It seems like the majority of the people play guitar... Now for how I practice without having a drum set right now other than the first time I tried it? Well I have to improvise so I'm playing Rock Band 2 like crazy trying to master the drums. It may not exactly be like the real drums (which they aren't, just thought I'd say that) but they do help with rythym and getting used to stepping on the bass pedal (although real bass pedals are easier to step on and more responsive). As for my skill level in Rock Band... I've gotten a whole lot better than what bullet has seen. I can now play on hard and expert easily, for some songs I find expert easier because the notes come down faster and there are more of them. I know you can increase speed for the other difficulties by enabling breakneck speed but... then it just becomes TOO fast >.> Yeah I got a whole lot better playing in the drums for Rock Band 2 partially due to me actually buying a drum throne (drum seat, got it at a circuit city close-down sale too) and the other reason is because I changed the way I stepped on the bass pedal... THAT helped a lot because now it'll take an hour or two even on hard songs to tire my leg out from stepping on the bass pedal compared to before where my leg would get tired after just a couple of hard songs.
As for what songs we are doing? We are going to do a cover for God knows... yeah even I know that's crazy but that's one of everyone's favorite song in this band. Yes, they all are anime freaks and they all know bout Haruhi... and Aya Hirano. Especially Justin (lead guitarist and singer), he's a fan of Aya like me although we're both starting to... well it isn't like we don't like her anymore but we just don't really... care about her anymore o_O Okay I made it sound like something in a bad way but I can't think of the words right now. We're doing covers first to get a feel for the band and to see if we've got potential. Also the reason why we've basically started this was to eventually play in a school's yearly Variety Show, it was too late to sign up for this year's Variety Show and we haven't even gotten together to practice yet... well mostly due to me not having my drums yet and we're waiting for me to clean out my basement. But Justin already knows how to play the guitar solo (although he hasn't mastered it and can still improve) and the rest is pretty easy, Bee just has to learn Bass as he's never played guitar much before but he has an entire year to accomplish that so no worries from me. Randy is good with guitars too like his brother Justin so I'm not worrying about him and his part as Rythym. Also the drums IMO in God knows... are pretty simple. I can play it on DTXmania with just the Rock Band drums although you have to keep in mind I turned on some of the drums to auto because the drums for Rock Band only has four drums and a bass pedal... and well you should know a standard drum set has more than 4 pieces. Oh and on a side note Randy is an anti-mecha anime fan... he loves anime but has a thing against mecha anime. Mecha anime btw are in short terms anime with giant robots if you didn't know... I'm assuming that you guys knew already but by that off chance... you know... Well anyways he hates them but I got him ADDICTED to Gundam 00... he watched 43 episodes in 2 school nights. I found it surprising and I'll now forever use that as an example to how good Gundam 00 is ;) I dunno if I've said this already, pretty sure I did say it but I'll just repeat, but depending on the ending of Gundam 00 it could go down in my top 10 or even top 5 anime of all time list.
Now other than God knows... we plan on doing ANOTHER cover for the Variety Show because in our Variety Show we can do up to 2 things. We haven't really decided on it but because Justin has really fallen in love with Tommy heavenly6/The Brilliant Green we've narrowed it down to two of our favorite songs from her. Which is Ash Like Snow (second OP for Gundam 00 baby! and I know I just talked about how I freakin love this song in the previous blog :P) and the second choice obviously by her (duh!) is Papermoon. We are still open for comments and suggestions as we still could choose a different song but FOR SURE we're doing God knows... Also if you have questions on the singing... we are planning to keep it Japanese although if by some miracle we get some amazing lyrics for these songs in english and they sound great we MIGHT use it just for the fact that 99% of our school doesn't know Japanese. That 1% are a couple of teachers that either have lived in Japan for most of their life (although they are all caucasian) or have been there long enough to understand the language and well... friggen get a Japanese wife  But still if we do it in Japanese we easily have a plan for that, set up the projector on stage (or possibly off stage) that will project the lyrics translated. This is debatable cuz that might distract the audience from us... so we'll probaby do a survey around our school soon asking whether or not they prefer the lyrics or not. Also I'm telling everybody to come and watch while also bringing something to record it because I'm going to watch all te different ones and use the best video to post up to show to you guys in the future. Oh and BTW it is obvious that future means in ONE YEAR. Or more like a year and one month.
So now we get off of that lengthy subject of our band... onto gaming news I really haven't done much. Maybe some Pokemon or Moemon. Okay you can probably find other better videos of this but it was the first thing that came up when I searched for it. For some reason I find it entertaining... and now I want to play the new Pokemon on the DS! Darn it... even my haxored PSP can only play DS at horrible frame rates and I don't even want to imagine using the analog stick as the cursor/stick pointer thingy-majig. Oh BTW Moemon IS in english, just for some reason the majority of the videos are in Japanese. Okay I know the reason why but I just won't explain it cuz it is obvious or just something... minor. As for other gaming I've done I've recently gotten COD5 and am playing it pretty crazily cept for the past week or two since I have school... AFTER school from 3:30 PM to 8. The reason why I got it is because now I have a lot of friends who have PS3s and most of them have COD5 so it was a simple way to get a game and play together with. And two of my friends who play COD5 are pretty good... at least IMO they are. They get the highest score per round 9 times out of 10 and they have a good kill ratio, above 2:1. Well I just started and they've been playing it A LOT and they also have COD4 which they play A LOT. You get the point... For FUTURE games coming out... like Killzone 2, RE5, etc. I might end up renting them to play them because I'm simply saving up my money to get a drumset. I DO have $247 right now in cash but I'm using some of that to buy a PSP for my friend because I said I'd get him one if we basically... share the PSP  He gave me like half of the money to buy one which is $60 and if you are confused I'm getting them at Circuit City tomorrow where it is brand new for like... $100-120.
Now if you didn't know already Circuit City is closing down and like Bullet I feel bad... and I thought bullet would point this out but come on they use RED! Best Buy is BLUE! A few years ago I thought there wasn't much of a difference in the stores but Circuit City never caught on and soon Best Buy easily became better. Nowadays the revamped Best Buys TOTALLY beats Circuit City because now Best Buy has more things to choose from and some amazing musical instrument section. But yeah, I got some things from there last weekend such as a new PS3 controller which by the way is amazingly my FIRST Dualshock 3, that's right I have 2 original Sixaxis without rumble controllers. That brings my collection up to 3 controllers, and since I'm going again tomorrow I might get another controller to get to that magical 4. Also the Circuit City by my house, which is different from bullets, had an entire WALL of Dualshock 3s... no kidding. I'll take a picture of it with my phone if I have the chance and it remains that way... okay that's a maybe since I may look too wierd doing that. But other things I got include a drum throne (mentioned above), blank DVDs (to finally burn a better version of Linux on my PS3! and for other reasons). blank CDs (because apparently my family still uses them to listen to things) and some PS3 related accessories such as a LONG USB cable to charge the controller which can also connect to the PSP (it's Mini-USB to USB so anything that uses that works) and I got a nice USB hub. I was about to get a 250gb hard drive for my PS3 but decided not to because I needed to save money. I might ask my mom to get it for me when we go tomorrow though ROFL. I mean after all she is the one buying me most of my stuff to tell you the truth... like the drum set, I'm only saving up to supe it up, she's actually buying it. I'm just getting the cymbals, drum sticks, etc. which still is pretty expensive since cymbals can cost as much as a flippin drum set. Oh yeah and I haven't installed Linux on my PS3 yet due to... busy-ness and uh... lazyness. Was planning to do it during this 3 day weekend though.
Finally on to things about anime... well I can't say much except I'm only watching a few this season. Gundam 00, new season of Hajime no Ippo, To Aru Majutsu no Index and something I can't think of right now but I think it's important... I'm on and off for Kurokami and I've started to read the Kurohime manga because Randy told me to. Otherwise... yep that's pretty much it. Kinda dropped White Album and some other anime I started watching, got boring. Got recommended an anime called Chrome Shelled Regios and it was wierd o_O Maybe, maybe not, I don't know if I'll continue watching that. Also got in to a new visual novel/game thingy called The Spirit of Eternity Sword 2. Using guides to help me get through this game since it is all in Japanese but I'm also using a broken english/engrishy thing to translate it  So it's enjoyable. Oh BTW it has a battle system which is one reason I got it. What got me initially interested was a picture of the red haired girl which I thought was REALLY cool (her in her Valkyrie looking battle armor and stuff) and THIS picture... ok that was a video but I was too lazy to upload the pic and I couldn't find the picture of it anymore -_- so go to 2:37 in the video and you'll know what I mean. It's my current desktop wallpaper.
So I guess that's it for now, don't want to make this blog too lengthy, oh and before I go I just had to post this...

:D
I swore it was faster in a previous test but I haven't done it in a long time so I don't really remember which is why I did it again. Some factors that may come into play for it being a little slower than what I though I'd get would be that I'm using wireless (probably not the problem if the test is using the modem directly? or maybe it is from the laptop, I dunno) and I have Comodo Firewall on which DOES slow down the internet a bit. Well at least for things like youtube videos sometimes... only SOMETIMES and that's where the first few seconds are laggy and I can tell it's Comodo because I turned some type of active gaurd thing on and it has a streaming symbol on top of the tray icon whenever I load up a new page... when I turn it off everything is fast but the protection Comodo Firewall has is GREAT and the lag isn't that bad... I got used to it and my internet is already fast enough. Though I think it is somewhat sometimes too fast although I'm not saying that's a bad thing because at most places I can't even get up to multiple megabytes per second downloads except for places that probably have uber fast servers like... for example when I download a Sony PS3 firmware update that is around 100mb I can get 2-3 mb/s downloads. I remember when Stage6 still existed and I got the highest download speeds from there at an amazing 8 mb/s... that is the highest I've ever seen in real life. I haven't even looked up at what the fastest internet download speed is for the masses but yeah... that's pretty fast. Also switched my bittorrent client from Azureus/Vuze to uTorrent. Vuze got too complicated and uTorrent is... amazingly a lot faster than Azureus ever was, even when Azureus was... Azureus and not Vuze.
*WE GOT A NEW HDTV TODAY AT CIRCUIT CITY  I uploaded pics on my images page dor Gamespot. Also got a NEW PSP, don't ask why :P
