Ryse looks interesting, in concept, but not enought for me to buy an Xbox One. Maybe a year or two down the line a few games will come out that make it more appealing..
Most of those game are multi-platform, so saying they are worth buying an Xbox One for is kind of moot since you can get a good number of them them on PS4, PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.
What platform are the female gamers using? I would bet most are portable gamers, most likely 3DS, DS or just any Nintendo handheld. Not saying there aren't any female core gamers, I know a few. But statistics always need to be taken with a grain of salt because they tend to lump demographics together and not go in depth with platforms, game genres, and play time.
Sales are down because... well a lot of people already own a 360. I bet quite a number of those sales are people buying a new console to replace a non-functional one.
That's funny, I remember Sony saying the same thing about the PS3 when it launched at $499 and $599. My how little Microsoft has learned, they even went so far as to say you could buy a 360 and a Wii for the cost of a PS3.
Digital distribution is great for publishers but not as great for consumers, digital games cannot be refunded, returned or traded, also the logistics are a problem. Not everyone has a reliably fast internet connection, and games can range over the 20 gig mark making some games take a very long time to download. Also, storage space becomes and issue, as gamers begin to expand their collection, available space on their internal hard drives will have to be carefully monitored. Throughout the lifespan of the console, the hard drive will have to be upgraded several times. Hard drives are getting bigger, however, the 2.5 inch drives current consoles use have not seen significant storage capacity increase in several years.
