@PrpleTrtleBuBum: It always saddens me to see people being so rude with the next gen version of Double Agent. Sure the game has flaws and some weird game design decisions but it still feels as a great Splinter Cell game to me, and the last real Splinter Cell game that has been released.
This game introduced great new gameplay ideas like the ability to swim, the inverted rappel, the ultrasonic emitter or the glass cutter. Sadly some of them were poorly used throughout the game but they brought some freshness to the gameplay and they still could have a great potential if used the right way in the next game. I just think this version has been released too soon, if it has been more polished then it would have been way more impactful.
Interesting article but I highly disagree with this statement: "The Clancy franchise name is arguably stronger now than it ever has been, particularly because of Rainbow Six's success, and this can work in Splinter Cell's favor"
Siege to me is not a real Rainbow Six game and is just another result of how Ubisoft butchered the Tom Clancy franchise this last decade, alongside The Division and the last Ghost Recon & Splinter Cell games. And the Clancy playerbase is just not the same as it was 15-20 years ago, so on the contrary it will work to the detriment of Splinter Cell if Ubisoft tries to appeal to that audience for the next SC game.
PS: and we all know the "fans are too demanding" argument is false, they use it because it's an easy answer for them. But the truth is they don't care about Splinter Cell fans, they just didn't find a way yet to transform this franchise into a lucrative open world.
