Ok... first off we need to separate Nintendo the business from Nintendo the company that brought you Zelda, Mario, and Metroid. Money wise, it is obvious that Nintendo has improved tremendously since the N64 days. However, Nintendo the game company has ridden the backs of their sparse blockbuster titles. People keep asking, "why does GS bash Nintendo"... they answer is simple. Nintendo doesn't care about gamers. They care about little Billy and his allowance buying that next DS crap title. They care about soccer mom's buying Wii's as birthday party presents. Do not think for a minute that the same audience that waits in line to buy Halo 3 is the same audience that Nintendo is making games for. Sure, we all grew up on Super Mario Bro's and Metroid and yes we do buy those games when new ones come out, but how often does that happen per Nintendo console cycle? Once if that. So when you think of Nintendo, count how many A+ game titles they come out with per year. Then look at the list of amazing games coming out on for PS3 and 360. Bioshock, GTA4, Halo 3, Killzone 2...etc. Now compare those titles to Wii titles. From a true gamer perspective it is night and day. And for the love of God, stop including Nintendo in the console wars discussion.... it's not funny.
There should be two game conferences a year. One for the industry and one for the gamers. If they can successfully implement this strategy all will be right with the world.
