A step up from FFXIII; a step down from everything before that. With a fleshed-out storyline and more in-depth battle mechanics, this could have been on par with X and XII. I certainly enjoyed my time with XV, and whilst the side-quests and additional content were fantastic and seemingly unending, they shouldn't outshine the main quest, which they certainly did. Noctis' gang grew on me as the story progressed, but XV never reached the storytelling high-points of the classic games in the series.
