Remember why No Man's Sky was delayed? Lawsuit by Sky, a TV broadcaster who laid claim to the word "Sky." Not trying to defend the game's quality, but the issue of trademark definitely became an issue before its release.

Going back in years, there was a fight over the Civilization brand name, with competing publishers releasing games that used the name. It got so crazy, they were buying up old defunct board game comapnies and other tricks just to claim they had legal rights to use the name.

Names = brand identity and marketing. Not saying it's right, wrong, good, bad...just how it is.
