Swedish lesson

"All men by nature desire knowledge."
Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC), Metaphysics

I had an idea, since I'm so friggin bored right now, why not share some new but utterly unimportant and useless information for all non-swedes who happen to pop in here. I will teach you a Swedish word, let us call it the "Swedish word of the month":

The October word is... fjortis:
The fjortis are herd animals who are often spotted at dusk in malls or McDonald's  restaurants. The males are recognized by their birdlike sounds and red dotted faces where the hunt for the girl with the least IQ starts with playing the latest ring-tone on their cellular phones. The females are recognized by the excessively make-upped, artificial looking faces and the pink thongs that are hanging right under their armpits. Children sized pants is a common occurrence. The fjortis is a very irritating animal, especially since they roam through the cities while giving their high-pitch mating calls. The mating calls often come in the form of curse words for example: Nerd, Wh*** and so on... The numbers of these animals have increased rapidly recently, it has actually become such a problem that a hot debate has arisen about the possibility of shooting parts of the population.

...Actually, fjortis is a Swedish derogatory word for people in their early teens who behave extra immature, insecure and naive and have psychological signs of puberty that are very obvious. But I like this^^ explanation better. It's probably a very normal anima...  I mean sight  in other countries as well.

0% leisure time

Studying Math and Physics on a college level was alot harder than anything I could imagine. It doesn't help that I'm a bit of a procastinator. I can't remember the last night I had more than 5 hours of sleep in a night. Only a few weeks left until Christmas, School break and Wii. I hope I can survive the final exams.

With so little leisure time I haven't been able to make a new banner, I had to make an easy one with a simple background and an old font. Perhaps I'll have time to make something more advanced next week....or next month... or after I've graduated in 2 years:(.

This was the last one

Thanks Kevin

I forgot to say Thanks to the Gamespot Support Staff for explaining how I managed to get 38 suspension reports in under two minutes that Friday. At first I was worried that my suspension was going to last for 114 days instead of 3, apparently it was a bug. My moderation history is now two pages long and with three more moderations it will be three pages. Let's hope that will never happen.

:D Thanks Kevin for both checking it out and unsuspending me!

My Second Banner!!!

    ...but not my last.

I'll start this of by revealing that the reason for why I've been missing from the boards lately is a three day long suspension. Don't ask me what I did, I don't know, I don't have the energy to speculate and I don't want to get further moderations for complaining on the wrong place. But..... it was late (like 3-5 am here in Sweden), I was tired, I was frustrated about the lack of info in Ken Kutaragi's Key Note speech and I probably posted something stupid.

ANYWAY... during the weekend, I had a lot of fun and a lot of studying. My niece who's five now had a birthday Saturday  morning, it was the most fun I had that week. Saturday night, I went to another party where the only thing my friends wanted to celebrate was how drunk they were going to get... and I. Sunday morning, I couldn't get out of bed so I read and finished the novel I borrowed from the library, "Terry Brooks: Straken" IT RULES! Later I had some "spare time" that I used to polish my skills on Photoshop CS, thus I got a new banner. The last waking hours of Sunday I tried to read in my Atomic Physics book... three pages, before I slept with my face in the book and the lights still turned on.

I'm not totally content with the banner so I'll probably change it soon again, I'll try to create a new one next weekend. I can't even decide if this one is better than my last fanboyish one... maybe it's just me.

I wish I was a Samurai

"You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club."
Jack London, US adventurer, author, & sailor

I just saw "The Last Samurai", it was A LOT better than I'd expected. I can't believe it took me this long to catch it. Anyway, I'm tired and I'm going to sleep now, it's like... :o 3 am over here, hmm.
Well nothing beats going to bed after seeing a good movie, you feel all inspired. And all the annoying things you'd usually dwell on while you're lying in bed seem so meaningless. I think I'm gonna sleep well tonight...

What the ****? A "Breaking News" banner just popped out, Ken Kutaragi keynote? I guess I'm sleeping very late today.

Apparently, a Simple Joke doesn't cure Boredom

"Someone's boring me. I think it's me."
Dylan Thomas (1914 - 1953), in Rayner Heppenstall, Four Absentees (1960)

I'm bored today, extremely bored. I think I'm gonna write down a joke. Then... I think I'll sit down and watch "The Last Samurai". No, I haven't seen it yet:roll:. And No, I'm not joking. Actually, I'm a bit embarrassed about it since I consider myself to be a Huge Movie Fan...

Job Fair

A jock and a geek applying for the same job.

The boss said, "Boys, you need to take a test before you can get this job."

So they took the test and the next day they came back to see who the boss chose. "Well," he said, "Both of you got the same score except I'm going to choose the geek."

The jock complained, "Don't you think that's prejudice or something?"

"Well," the boss said, "Let me tell you what happened. Both of your papers were right all the way through until the last question came up, and the geek answered 'I don't know,' and then when I looked at your paper, you answered, 'Me either'.

I got my Wii today

I really hope that we see a lot of texts like these after launch. This is my prediction/hope of how I'll feel the day I get my Wii.

It's December 8th, I got my Wii today. I didn't expect it but... this day turned out to be the best day of my life. Cause... you know that feeling you get when someone succeeds in tricking you with an amazing magic trick, or when you look up to get that first glance of a sunset that robs you of your speaking abilities, that feeling in your chest that makes it hard to breath when you see a breathtaking scene in a movie. I had that feeling today, and it lasted for twelve hours. I felt like a kid again, my face hurt from smiling, my stomach ached from all the laughing that came of seeing my brothers trying to bowl and... my hand shivered while trying to put the Zelda TP disc into the Wii. It was snowing outside so for a minute or two I forgot that it wasn't Christmas, it really felt like Christmas.
That's when I finally understood the message that Nintendo was futily trying to deliver to all gamers. I understood the true meaning of playing games. It's about having fun, it's about feeling joy... indescribable joy.
Suddenly their new motto "Playing = believing" made sense.

Important patents should be ripped to...

"Wisdom outweighs any wealth."
   Sophocles (496 BC - 406 BC)

...pieces by supreme court judges around the world. Who the F**K do this patent holders think they are, I don't care if they're a big greedy multi-billion dollar corporation or a 27 year old geek who happened to stumble upon a freakin awsome discovery in his mothers basement. If they know something that could change millions of lifes to the better then there should be a some kind of F%#&¤N limit to the price they can ask for it.

No, I'm not just writing alot of bull cause I'm bored and tired and it's almost 5am here in Sweden... ... ... crap, school starts in about 3 hours...I'll make this quick. I'm not talking about the cure for cancer or a solution for integalactic spacetravel... I'm talking about something alot more important. I was just surfing the web randomly when I came across this:

Did you know there's a patent held by some microscopic software company on spherical camera controls in realtime 3D, and they're starting to level lawsuits against EVERYONE? Did you ever wonder what happened to force feedback, controllers that push your hands around so you can feel the action in the game as well as see it (we're talking real force feedback, not controllers that vibrate like pagers)? Somebody has a patent, that's what. Did you know you can't have mini-games during a loading screen because of patent law?

This kind of short-sighted business **** makes me sick. F****n patent holders.
