What happens is the first R rated game gets some light publicity followed by poor reviews. At that point everyone remembers that most banned games were crappy.
Games are games. Indie or not, they have to be good to get my attention. I won't submit to indie darlings for being indie. Either way, variable pricing and the competence of the internet now gives us a bigger selection of games, and we have a bunch of independant devs to thank in part for taking advantage of it.
