Small Towns...

I was really excited to go pick up a copy of Motorstorm today after school. When I got to Gamestop they told me they wouldn't get it in until tomorrow. I went to Wal-Mart to see if it was my area or if it was just Gamestop. The guys at Wal-Mart also said they won't have it in until tomorrow. What makes me more upset is that I got home only to see 3 of my friends online playing Motorstorm. I hate living in this small town in Iowa. We get nothing on time here (if we get it at all) and the most exciting thing going on usually has to do with crime :(. I want to move to a bigger city. I suppose I should be somewhat happy though. I used to live in a town 1/5 the size -_-.

Lack of Internet...

There has been another snowstorm in Iowa. This time, I kept power, but some servers at Mediacom had problems and had to be reset. I didn't have internet for the past 32 hours, as the servers had to go through every single one of the 50,000 IPs and give them internet access. The awkward thing is that the internet came back on tonight right after I finished playing MGS3. The second I quit the game the "System Update Required" message came up on my ps3. This past week has been terribly exciting with the lack of power, internet, and cable for several days :(

Power Outage

If you haven't already heard, Iowa has been in quite a large blizzard/ice storm. Marshall County was in a state of emergency (and possibly still is) for the past several days. People around the county and entire state of Iowa were (some still are) out of power. On Saturday at 1:45 P.M. the power went off in my house and it stayed off until 10:45 P.M. I almost went crazy without power so long. I rented VF5 and I thought I would have no time to play it over the weekend. School was officially closed for Monday, so I did get plenty of VF5 in ;). One of my friends came over Sunday and Monday while he was without power. We played AoE 2: Conquerors on my LAN and played VF5 while the internet/cable was out. The power going out was almost kind of fun in some ways. It was kind of nice spending time with the family, using candles for lighting, and eating canned ravioli cooked on a camping stove (the ravioli not so much). If you were involved in this "Iowa blizzard" that is making a return the next couple of days, I'd love to hear your stories too!

My PS3 Line Story

Well, I've just recently started my blog and I thought I would share my story about how I got my rain check on November 17. Here it is: On the day of November 16 my friend and I were planning on camping at the local Wal-Mart right after school got out. He was waiting in line for his neighbor in exchange for $60. His neighbor's grandma was so worried we wouldn't get spots in line so she took her cleaning lady down to Wal-Mart and waited at 12:00 until we got out of school.

It turned out that to trade places with another person in line you had to be related. This kid's grandma became my friend's "Grandma" and her cleaning lady became my "Aunt Jen". After we arrived I had to hug this old lady I've never met before and pretend she was my aunt. It was quite awkward and this lady behind us was eyeing us suspiciously (she was 13th for 6 consoles + 6 rain checks). My friend knew an older man there, as he was his friend's father. My friend lied to him and said that we were cousins. Later the son of this man arrived and we all whispered the story to him and used text on phones to communicate silently. Apparently this kid had a brother working at Wal-Mart who knew about the console numbers, etc.

Hours later I became more confused as my friend left and came back multiple times always switching spots with some adult that I didn't know. Finally at the end of the night when they called 12 of us to go wait in line to pick up the consoles and pick up our rain checks the old frumpy lady behind us tried to raise some hell. She got all b*tchy and started to point fingers at my friend and I along with another white guy who traded places with a non-relative Mexican. She didn't get her way, I gave the assistant manager my name, number, and address and I walked out of there only knowing I would be getting a ps3 sometime in the next month.

There you have it. That was my line story. It was kind of long and might've been confusing to you, but I tried to explain it as best I could. I had to use deceit to get what I wanted, but it worked out for me. I officially became a ps3 owner on December 3. It's been fun, but I'm really anxious for some new games to come out (even a game as fun as Resistance gets boring after playing ONLY it for 2 months).

Best Flash Games of All Time!

Let's face it. Anyone who goes to school and is in some sort of computer class ends up playing games, whether it be after their work is completed or instead of doing the assignments. I've been playing flash games excessively at school and home for years. To let the general public know what games are classics, addictive, and fun, I'm posting my top 10 list of internet flash games. 10.Winterbells While it's more of a holiday game and can sometimes be unforgiving, Winterbells is a fun way to waste some time. 9.Unreal Flash While this game isn't the most unique and addictive flash game, it is fun to play. 8.Bow Master Bow Master is a fun bow based "defend the castle" style game. It's sequel, Bowmaster Prelude, is also worth a play through. 7.Bowman Almost anyone who has played a flash game knows about bowman. If you haven't, go check it out. It's worth your time. 6.Squares This game is so simple and fun that you could literally lose a half hour of your precious time trying to keep this game going. 5.Madness Interactive The single player version of this game is ok, but the bloody challenges and experiment gameplay modes make this game what it is. 4.Territory Wars Who doesn't like a parody of worms with stick figures? 3.Chaos Faction If you've ever played Super Smash Brothers you'll find this game quite entertaining. 2.Tower Defense Tower Defense is a popular gametype played in Warcraft and in several other RTS games including Starcraft. This game is a fun parody of the gametype that requires you to manage your resources wisely and make effective decisions. This game has a sequel, also hosted on the same website. I enjoyed the original more, but if you try and like this game you should check out it's sequel Flash Element TD. 1.Funky Truck 4WD This game truly takes the cake. It is a very fun off road truck driving game and it trumps its sequel and prequel in gameplay. If anyone has a favorite flash game that is not on this list go ahead and leave or comment or send me a message. I hate to overlook fun ways to spend the last 15 minutes of my programming class.

Well, I guess I should start a blog

Everybody online has a blog nowadays. My user profile was looking a little lackluster and it will for quite a while. I thought I could contribute to the website and exercise my need to share my views and opinions at the same time. I have plenty of free time on my hands, so expect an entry or two a week.
