You mention Team Deathmatch and Skirmish, but fail to mention the 1v1 servers, which honestly teach you more about the fighting system than any of the other game modes. These are servers where you have to flourish your weapon to agree to fights, and trolls are quickly kicked.
If you're having trouble learning the nuances of combat, the 1v1 servers are your best bet.
@bdunning548: It may not be a sport, but it's definitely a competition, one which makes a lot of money for a lot of people and can evoke an emotional reaction in those observing (and indeed participating) in it. I think the whole point of this is that this guy seems to be really out of touch with modern "gamers" and really should update his view on games in general. Why do all gamers have to be the basement-dwelling hot pocket-eating (delicious btw) virginity-having vision this guy perpetuates? I don't even know where that stereotype came from. I've never lived in my parent's basement...and I've got 80 hrs in Fallout 4.
I don't understand the stereotype really. It seems to be this vision of the "gamer" that is from a long time ago...maybe 90's era? Where everyone who knew something about computers was a "hacker" and lived in their parent's basement? I could maybe understand that when this trend first started, but now? I mean GTA 5 has sold over 50 Million copies. And that's just 1 game. This guy really needs to update his view of gamers. It's not like gaming is a fad...if it is, it's one that's been around for over 30-40 years at this point...
I'm not saying this is a sport, but it's definitely competitive, and it definitely takes skill to master. These may not be athletes, but they're certainly e-athletes, just like this is an e-sport. Why can't there be Sports and E-Sports? Why must the nomenclature change to appease people who think E-Sports aren't a thing? Watch a pro league match of Rocket League, and you may feel like you've just watched Michael Jordan sprint down the court and slam the game-winning dunk or something. If it can evoke an emotional response like that, who's to say the experience of watching an E-Sport is any different from watching a real sport?
