@mogan: Why don't you ask him instead of assuming what part of the review he is speaking to? BTW, the game was garbage. And generally, given the boners you people get for all things star wars, calling it a BS review probably isn't that far off, given that this game clearly looked to the Soulsborne games yet failed miserably in its attempt to mimic anything, including Dark Souls' absolutely brilliant level design.
The only thing amazing about this game was how fast it was off my hard drive. Glad I didn't pay 60 bucks for it.
"Set only 25 years after the bombs dropped--making it the earliest game in the series' timeline--Fallout 76 gives itself plenty of distance from previous games to show off the freshly devastated wilderness."
What? Why the hell is it so bright and lush then? No nuclear winter after the war? No NPC's or NPC towns? This game looks awful. Further, all of the comments I am seeing echo this, so I do not know what the hell they are thinking. They should have canned this idea and relegated it to their recycle bins a long time ago. Give us another SP ES game and save us from these awful MMO's.
Nothing about this looks exciting or captivating. Looks to bright and lush to be post apocalyptic. And they say it is the earliest in the fallout timeline right? So that makes it kind of a problem. Nothing about Fallout 1 or 2 was lush and bright, yet this is said to take place before the events in both of those games?
I will also second Eldrach in that they should not have ditched NPC's and NPC towns. Really bad decision. I won't give this the time of day.
By developing a character who is taking on an ultra right wing evangelical cult, they are making a statement here as to what globally people think America should be. There is room for argument and and controversy already. You play the good guy, these are the bad guys. It is drawn across religious and potentially even socioeconomic lines. They have been tone deaf in their approach before, and if they do it again I won't be surprised. I also won't have a problem with it, because ultra right wing conservative evangelicals are a serious problem in this country. **** subtlety. Tell it like it is. We have a puritan problem.
This never had a chance, When they announced it, I had a feeling this was going to happen, and it did. If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, its a duck.
