Okay...let's do this.
Over My Dead Body - I don't know why Chantel-whatever-her-name-is has a hook on this song...her hook doesn't even relate to the song. Drake says "I think I killed everyone in the game last year." Oh, really Aubrey? When Kanye dropped a cla$$ic last year, and Big Boi dropped his first solo (not to mention amazing) album, you think you killed the game last year? Get outta here...verses are okay and production is great. It's a good intro song, but you didn't kill the game last year.
Shot For Me - I'm not feeling this song either. I don't know if it's the lyrics or Drake's singing voice, but I don't like this song at all. The only thing I like about this song is the production tbh.
Headlines - When this song first got released as a single, I really hated this song, but it grew on me A LOT. You can tell Drake is aiming at another "Over" with Headlines. It's a really cool song to bang in your headphones and in the whip. Some lyrics are kinda silly, but that's not that big of an issue.
Crew Love (ft. The Weeknd) - Awwww yeaaahhhh, this song>>>>>>>, I mean, DAMN. My boy The Weeknd putting in work!! Awesome production with a great verse from Drake. The Weeknd kinda outshines Drake, but you can tell Drake wanted that to happen. Awesome song.
Take Care (ft. Rihanna) - Rihanna does a good job with her hook, and Drake also steps up his game, making up for the first two songs. Again, great production, and that sample>>>>>>>
Marvin's Room - Nothing left to say tbh. Loved it when it first got released, and I love it still. I kinda wish that they added something more to the song because Drake kinda left it as it is when it got leaked.
Buried Alive (Interlude) (ft. Kendrick Lamar) - OH MY GOD KENDRICK. WHAT AN AMAZING VERSE!! YOU STILL ON TOP!!! DAAAMMMNNNNN!!!! But, I gotta admit, the beat needs work because it sounds kinda weird. My number one favorite song.
Underground Kings - At this point, the album starts to pick up pace. When I first heard Underground Kings I loved it instantly. Drake's verses are awesome and that line "Got rich of a mixtaaapppeee" makes me laugh everytime, not cause it's bad, but because it sounds kinda funny lol. Anyways, this is my fourth favorite song off the album. Good job.
We'll Be Fine (ft. Birdman) - This is an awesome song too, but not as good as Underground Kings imo because of BIRDMAN. What the hell are you doing on this song?! I got scared when I heard your voice, I thought you were gonna start rapping for a minute but I'm so glad you didn't. Seriously.
Make Me Proud (ft. Nicki Minaj) - Why. Would. You. Make. This. Song. I mean, your verse was like...really? Who the hell is this song about? Nicki? You two should just get married and stop making crappy songs together. Be lucky Nicki didn't be on her "Monster" flow and destroy you on your own song.
Lord Knows (ft. Rick Ross) - THERE YOU GO AUBREY. YOU JUST REDEEMED YOURSELF FROM THE CRAPPY SONG BEFORE THIS ONE. Awesome production by Just Blaze, and Rick Ross's verse was like DAMN. But, you managed to hold your own and not get destroyed by da bawse, so kudos to you. My second favorite song.
Cameras/Good Ones Go Interlude - I really love Cameras: the verses, the sample, the production, everything. I can listen to this song at any time of day and it wouldn't sound weird. The only thing that ruins this song is the interlude. Drake's voice sounds weird when he's singing, and the writing is that good either. "Don't you go getting married, don't you go get engaged..." Wtf is up with that? I only listen to Cameras on my iPod and make the song end before Good Ones Go tbh.
Doing It Wrong (harmonica by Stevie Wonder) - I don't know...I like Drake's singing and that harmonica solo by Stevie, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to this song. I tried listening to this during school and it felt off...same when I was surfing on my iPod late at night. Don't get me wrong, it's a good song, but I gotta be in the right mood to listen to this. I just can't listen to it whenever cause it'll feel weird.
The Real Her (ft. Lil Wayne and Andre 3000) - Drake's singing and verse is good, same with the production. Wayne, why do you have to deliver a horrible verse? Get the hell out of here. But then Andre comes along with his verse and destroys everybody lol. Overall, it's a good song, but Wayne's verse is just stupid.
Look What You've Done - My third favorite song. Drake's verses are awesome, and production is amazing. Nothing left to say.
HYFR (Hell Ya F***ing Right) (ft. Lil Wayne) - This is the second worst song on the album. Aubrey, I don't know if this is your idea of being a straight up G, but it's not working at all. Your verse was okay, nothing more. Wayne, why are you on two songs?! Your verse was terrrrrrible! And that hook? Laughable. C'mon.
Practice - Like everything about this song but the last bit of the hook. I understand the concept of the song, but the last bit of the hook is unrelated the rest of the song imo. It's not a bad song tho.
The Ride (ft. The Weeknd) - I've never been more amazed by a song than Buried Alive. I love how The Weeknd's soulful voice is being treated as a sample in the background. Drake delivers amazing voices with an awesome concept. My second favorite song off the album.
BONUS SONGS:
The Motto (ft. Lil Wayne) - I'm so glad this song didn't make the cut for the album. Drake's verse and production are good, but Wayne's verse is so bad, it's hilarious. I think Drake realized how crappy Wayne's verse was and decided not to put it on the album.
Hate Sleeping Alone - Drake, you're so stupid. This was an awesome song and you DIDN'T put it on the album? I can see this going right after Buried Alive because the production sounds so similar. Anyways, it's an awesome song with awesome verses.
Overall: It's a great album but it's kinda lacking throughout. I feel like Young Money is having a negative influence on Drake because if Wayne, Birdman, and Nicki wern't on this album, then it would of been way better imo.
Score: 7/10.
