When a lot of games that support Cross-Play between Xbox and PC start rolling out, Sony is going to fall behind. A lot of people want to play with their friends and if a console and PC have that connnection, Playstation will be lacking. There will still be a desire to play there and a lot of players obviously. My brother has Xbox and I have Playstation. If he can play his games with me while i'm on my PC, he won't have to buy a PS4...
...then again I won't have to buy an Xbox either.... hmmmm
@Zoberk: I forgot to mentions this as it can give an idea as to how the whole movie feels.
Potential spoilers so do not read if you haven't seen the movie.
Spider tank in 3rd act has meaning and depth in the original. This one was written and events unfold in such a way that the spider feels like Jon Peters insisting on a giant spider in the 3rd act of all movies cause they are cool. (watch The Death of Superman Lives for clarification of reference).
While the casting was ok and it was visually pleasant to watch, I found a lot of the potential the movie had was demolished by cliche riddled writing. I'm not going to mention how the characters and story steered too far from the original. In fact, even when i throw aside the original and think of this film as its own thing, the writing still bothers me immensely.
Have we not had enough of futuristic computers declaring every single action they do as if they cater to the visually impaired (even if they are by design ridiculously visual devices)? "All systems nominal! Weapons online! Carpets Engaged!.... enough really. Have we not heard enough of the whole "my name is Altair, i'm an assassin" style identity confirmations? Are we not oversaturated with Michael Bay's Transformer's type dubsteppy wobba zubba slow motion? These typical hollywood tropes aside, the whole story seemed disjointed. Why is this woman acting like an angst crazed teenager with an identity crisis? No, sorry, I wasn't supposed to compare it with the original.
Looking at the movie again, there is a Sector 9, but where the hell is the whole team dynamic? As much as I like Takeshi Kitano, he stands out like a grumpy old yakuza who will not yield to the english language and looks as if some guys begged him to join the cast and he was just like "meh **** it, i'm in!"
The problem in this movie is not that it is whitewashing or to some fans very different from the original and that it misses the point. The problem is that even as a movie that could be considered its own thing, it fails to be memorable and go beyond the bad habits of any mediocre sci-fi. The only places the movie shines are the scenes with cinematography borrowed from the original, specifically the wet alleyway scene, before reverting to its poorer version.
So when someone like Kojima does not mention these problems and says its surprisingly loyal to the original, i wonder about his judgement.
Since this is a story heavy game that focuses more on the single player experience and there are a lot of people that are going to play this game for that experience, it is not wise to have MP affect the outcome of SP. Mass Effect 3 did that. While it isn't that big of a deal to get in and do a match or two everyday, it still takes away the freedom to steer clear of MP if the player just wants the full SP experience and perhaps doesn't like MP.
In short: MP should not be forced down the throat of SP completionists regardless of how awesome it may be developed by Bioware.
Note: While it is not certain that the two are thus linked, the post gave me that impression.
