Earlier this month on the 10th I went to hospital for a operation to stop my lungs collapsing as they collapsed for no reason twice in a year,last year on good friday,this year on easter sunday(guess the saying those that suffer are closest to god is true ).The op was supposed to be simple,cut 1 hole to stick in camera and another hole to sandpaper my lung causing it to stick to my chest wall,and small hole to insert 18 cm tube behind ribcage to drain any leaked air after the op.Now i was told that 1 in 3000 times the op causes the lung to collapse instead of fixing the problem and i was lucky enough to hit that 1 in 3000(back in april i had drain put in and was told it a success 95% of the time and they failed putting in twice in a row so im quite good at hitting low odds
)
So I wake up with drain in hooked upto a vacuum to suck the air out my chest as it leaks from the lung to stop it building up.Im supposed to have epidural needle in back for 5-7 days while i heal and it fell out after 30 odd hours .9 days i spent attached to the vacuum,then they disconnected vacuum and bucket and put bag on end of tube to send me home and see if the air leak had stopped.They screwed up putting the bag on and air wasnt getting through the tube and instead built up inside my chest,when i informed nurses they said i just getting used to bag after being on vacuum so long,after nagging them for 8 hours they sent me for xray to shut me up and bingo I was right and pressure had built up and caused my lung to totally collape.
So back on the bucket and vacuum for few days.Next they decided to inject talcum powder into the tube and into my chest(im not making this up,some countries use chilli powder OUCH!!!!)This would cause slight inflammation of lungs and make them fuse to chest wall.But hey as you can guess it didnt quite work and i had really bad reaction and all my organs inflammed more than planned,worse they said they seen,it felt like my whole body was on fire.Almost like heating up a lighter till the metal guard goes red and then pressing said hot metal onto flesh,and that on the pain killers.Also felt like being kidney and back punched non stop if i sat up which i had to do to allow fluid to move about and had really bad flu symtoms for following 60 odd hours felling dizzy and getting hot sweats.
Then following this they discovered that morphine based drugs didnt block my pain receptors and so put me on something called nefapam alongside the moprphine(taken together enhances nafapams effects)After whopping 18 days of a 5-8 days planned visit i was discharged still with the tube in me until friday and when i went to see my GP to get sicknote he informed me that they really shouldnt give out nefapam as it highly addictive and dangerous to health,more so than morphine(takes around 2-4 weeks to become dependant on it) and i was taking it like candy in hospital,six a day alongside anitbiotics,moprphine tablets,liquid morphine and super strenght paracetomol.So go back friday and hopefully my lung fixed and drain can come out after being in for 22 days in.I recorded alot of it and will upload to youtube when i feel better,took me ages to type this,keyboard looks fuzzy due to all the pills im on,2 weeks worth weighed in at half a stone.
