Well, tomorrow I believe I'm going to be at level... *dramatic music plays*... 20. Apparently this level is very hard to get through. Anyone want to explain to me exactly why that is? Do points just not update or something? Anyways after the last Live Show tomorrow I'm going to try to go through every bit of E3 content in an attempt to get the "E3 Monster" type of emblem. It may or may not even exist but I'm not going to take any chances.
Also I've been thinking about getting a new Wii game, so anyone have any recommendations? I've been thinking about Punch-Out Wii but I'm not sure. Majora's Mask on the Virtual Console is another thing I might get.
In other news, I submitted over 80 banners for the Gamespot Gamespace Banner Union Submission thread for games that don't have banners awhile back. I'm hoping when they are judged at least a few will be accepted. The union actually seems a little dead, but people do have lives outside of this sight so I understand. When it has a little activity though it seems like a homey place. A place where people know each other pretty well Internet-wise.
Also fastesttruck made the e3 Discussion Union, so I advise you all to check it out and join it if you want. It's a "Union for e3 Discussion and Telegrams about e3 Emblems / events."
Anyways, thanks for reading this and have a nice day.

I now have all three conference emblems :D. I'm still waiting on the live show emblem from yesterday though, and I'm currently watching today's live show at this moment. Now I guess it's almost time for me to try to go through all of the E3 news, videos, images, etc. in an attempt to get the "E3 Monster/Electric Sheep" type emblem that may or may notbe around this year. Thanks for reading this and have a nice day :).
EDIT: I just got the Live Show Day 1 emblem. My emblems collection is finally starting to look like a real collection instead of a few of them just thrown in there :).
0_o I got the Nintendo Conference Emblem?!

I guess watching the ESRB notice was enough... Yayz :D, I'm now a happy Nintendo fanboy.
Nintendo and Sony Conference: Age-Block
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
Well, today Nintendo and Sony's conferences streamed live. Unfortunately, if you were under the age of 17 you were not permitted to watch either of them. Apparently Gamespot was told by Nintendo and Sony to "age-gate" the live streams. What eats me up about this is that Microsoft, which has a lot of mature games, didn't have an age block. This could mean a few things: One, Microsoft doesn't care. Two, Microsoft is smart, the know that a lot of people under 17 play their games. Basically they probably decided that they would end up getting more money this way.
Something that leaves me somewhere between a laugh and a roar is that Nintendo had an age block. Nintendo doesn't even like having mature games. To my current knowledge they didn't show off anything that could not be seen by a nine year old. Statistics, data, and stuff of that nature were present so maybe Nintendo thought it would take a 17 year old to not fall asleep from boredom. Nintendo has never had an age-block before so when I saw this today my exact thought was something along the lines of "WTF! What is wrong with you Nintendo! Microsoft didn't have an age block, why should you?!". Some things they talked about were some new Mario games and a new Metroid game too. What I'm afraid of is that this will continue to happen for a couple of years... Gamespot might not be the right place for me to watch E3 content anymore... I could have been like the people who lie about their age when they make an account and said that i was 18, but now I suffer because I was honest. I guess that's how life works sometimes... Right?
I guess I could understand Sony's Conference being blocked. Although it hasn't been blocked before so I don't quite understand why they have wanted it to be blocked now. Maybe Sony is trying to show it cares for the "kids" out there, from my slightly angered point of view I think that they just wanted to annoy people.
Another thing that bugs me is that either Nintendo and Sony decided to not let Gamespot only not show their conferences to people under 17, or maybe they told other sites but those sights didn't care enough to listen. It doesn't matter though. Some people just went to another site to watch it. Unfortunately I wanted to stay loyal to Gamespot, so i kept refreshing the page in a futile attempt to override the age-block.
Something I'm now going to miss is the Nintendo and Sony emblems... I know the emblems aren't the main thing about the conferences but they are nice to have. This is especially true when they're in a set. My Microsoft emblem might be forever lonely. Plus the only next gen console I have is the Wii, so only having the Microsoft makes me a somewhat depressed Nintendo fanboy. Well, JodyR said this in a thread that had to do with this in the E3 2009 Discussion:
"Be sure to note that Lark addressed the issue in this thread. We apologize for the inconvenience. As for the emblems, we may be able to work something out, but be sure to remain active and continue to chat about them in the forums or comments DURING the conference times. You may be able to use such acvtivity as an example of proof next week when we have an E3 emblem report thread."
Well, this is bad for me because I didn't leave comments in the forums or comments because I could not see the video, thus making it very difficult for me to think of something to comment about. My only hope is that maybe since I left the age-blocked conference on the whole time, it might somehow register that I should get the emblem. I understand this is probably not going to happen, as of right now though don't have any other chance.
In my opinion age is one of the constraints of life. One that you can never escape. This holds true now just as it always has.
Do you guys think this was fair and should have happened like this after all of the years of this never being a problem? Please leave your opinions in a comment. Bye and have a nice day...
Should fitness video games exist?
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
Well, as we all know, some companies such as Nintendo and Ubisoft have created fitness games. These games try to help people stay in shape by making them do certain routines. These routines can go from stretching to running in place. Some can even keep track of your weight and tell you if your improving.
The thing about this is that these games tryto help, but there are flaws. One, it can't control how and what you eat. People need to have control for it to work. Two, if someone buys a game like this they have to have commitment which most people don't have these days. Going outside to run or going to a gym is a much better idea in the long run. When your inside doing these routines you probably aren't going to easily work up a sweat, and your definitely not going to get any of the suns UV rays. Heck, the person playing the game might be in a small, cramped, dark room which isn't a good choice when it's compared to the outdoors. If a video game is truly needed to keep someone exercising than Dance Dance Revolution is a fun game that would help more than these new fitness games. The game would also be a lot better at keeping the player coming back for more.
Going outside also costs less than forking over money for the game and possibly the equipment if it isn't already included. The gym, however, can cost quite a lot of money, but you usually only have to pay once for the membership and it will be worth the money that is spent on it.A weight bench would be a good choice as well..
These games might seem like an easy way to stay fit, but if someone thinks that staying in shape is easy than they've got another thing coming. People have to put effort into what they do to stay fit instead of buying a game that obviously won't help them just so they can say that they "exercise". I could prescribe a much better alternative that almost anyone can do that won't cost much: eat a balanced diet, go run for a good amount of time outside every other day, about thirty minutes of this should be fine, and lift weights for awhile each day you don't run. If a video game is truly needed to keep someone exercising than Dance Dance Revolution is a fun game that would help. It would also be a lot better for keeping the player's interest.
In conclusion, these games are a nice gesture but they don't help as much as the alternatives that have been around for a much longer time. They're basically a waste of money that you could use on something better. So what are your thoughts on this subject? Please respond with a comment if you feel the need to do so. Bye, and have a nice day.
Ubisoft Conference
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
I just got finished watching the atrocity and I only really have negative things to say about it. Firstly the choppiness made it very difficult to watch. In Ubisoft's defense though it really wasn't their fault. The choppiness can be blamed on none other than this very site I'm typing this on right now. Anyways, they had quite a few problems that they brought upon themselves though.
First of all, having James Cameron talk about the movie "Avatar" for thirty minutes instead of talking about the game version of it is not very fun to watch and listen to at a video game conference. It was very boring and it didn't make the conference start out with the bang that they needed. I don't know, maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. It's just that I was under the impression that a video game conference should be about games. Even having Joel McHale didn't increase the fun-factor very much.
The games were... Pretty bad I suppose. The tween games just made me want swear a lot. They were mostly, if not completely, for teenage girls. I'm not saying it's bad for companies to try to appeal to women, it's just that they need to do a better job of it. Every teenage girl I know would never in their right mind would never even want to be near a game like that. It's actually stereotypical. I'm a guy so I can't totally be sure about this but from what I understand, teenage girl gamers aren't all airheads who think seeing a cute puppy or something of that nature makes a game good. Now to their fitness games. In my opinion, fitness video games are a pointless waste of money. If you want to get healthier instead of staying in front of a TV screen pretending to care about what it says you should do to stay fit, you should go outside and run around while getting fresh air. It costs less and it's, to my knowledge, more efficient.
The highlights of the show for me were the new No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle, Assassin's Creed 2, and that's about it. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game could have been good, but it is basically a clone of Super Smash Bros. Brawl in terms of the fighting. I believe I saw in a designer interview that the combat was actually designed by the people who helped make SSBB. Oh and What a lot of people, including myself, really wanted to see was Assassin's Creed 2 footage. Well be got to see a trailer and nothing more. So unless the game plays exactly like the trailer, than I have no clue if the game will be good.
In conclusion, Ubisoft lost a lot of respect from me. The lack of game quality was downright depressing. Not to mention the fact that it was way longer than it needed to be. On a scale of one to ten, I would have to give the Ubisoft conference a four out of ten. If I took the horrible video quality into consideration than I would have to give it a two out of ten.
Anyways, post your thoughts in a comment if you feel the need to do so, bye and have a nice day.
Last years E3
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
Well, as we should all know, E3 is now less than a day away. In honor of E3 I shall do a quick critique of last years E3 conferences and talk about what I would like to see this year.
A lot of stuff was shown off by Microsoft such as Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy XIII, Fable 2, and Gears of War 2. Even though I'm a Nintendo fanboy I can definitely say that I was impressed by Microsoft. With all of these awesome games it was hard to imagine that Nintendo and Sony could do better. Even though all of these games were sequels that didn't stop them from amazing me. Except for the fact that they copied the Miis and called their "creation" avatars, I would say that their conference was pretty good.
I'm not sure what I could say that I want to see this year. I don't and have never owned any type of Xbox console so it truly doesn't matter to me. I can assume though that Microsoft will be just as strong as ever and will remain to be a difficult company to beat.
Last years E3 was dreadful for me. I only own the Wii as my next gen console, so last year when Nintendo offered things that made me want to make a stack of Nintendo Wiis outside and light them on fire I was pretty disappointed. Disappointed in myself for being a Nintendo fanboy and disappointed in Nintendo for being a mere shell of what they were in the previous years. They offered we gamers a Snowboarding game, Wii Music, a new Wii Sports game, and Animal Crossing: City Folk. They offered us those games and I offered them a good fist shaking. The only game I would really want out of those would be Animal Crossing even though it's just an upgrade of the other ones. Oh I almost forgot about the new Wii-mote add on they announced that makes the slightest movement register easily. So if I was playing Sonic and the Black Knight with this new extension and I was in one of the near-impossible quick-time events then if I even moved a finger I would strike too early with my sword and fail. Sounds fun right? Not to mention the fact that it makes the Wii-mote a few inches longer which would just be annoying to use. Plus it would make the ratio of size between the Wii-mote and the Nunchuck even more off balance.
What I want to see from Nintendo this year would be better games like a new Star Fox game. Maybe even a new Zelda game for the Wii that is actually made for the Wii. Twilight Princess was originally for the Gamecube so we technically haven't had an official Zelda Wii yet. Perhaps the release of Majora's Mask on the Virtual Console is a sign that a Wii Zelda is on the way. Also hopefully we won't have any pointless add-ons to the Wii-mote again. Oh and I don't think I can be held responsible for my actions if Nintendo announces a Wii Music 2. If Nintendo doesn't kick it up a notch and stop angling itself more towards the casual audience then I might have to trade the Wii in for something better... Like a toaster.
Last year Sony was decent. They had games such as Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, inFAMOUS, DC Universe Online, etc. My only true problem I had with their conference is it was kind of boring at times for me. It seemed like it was longer than it needed to be. Anyways I really enjoyed their conference though, I especially liked Little Big Planet since it had so much potential and it allowed a lot of creativity.
I don't own a PS3 due to my own financial problems so to me It doesn't really matter what they release. Although if someone gave me the choice between an Xbox 360 and a PS3 I would choose the PS3. They did a pretty good job though with their conference so I'm really not sure about what they need to improve on this year. Maybe they should try to be more exciting I guess.
That was my two cents on the last E3 we had. If I had to rank the conferences due to my interests from worst to best it would be Nintendo, Microsoft, and then Sony. If I had to rank them due to how good they were it would be Nintendo, Sony, and then Microsoft. Anyways, E3 is right around the corner and I'm ecstatic to see what will be unveiled at E3 this year.
If you would please post your thoughts about last years E3 and what you want to see this year. Bye and have a nice day.
The Pokemon Scandal
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
Note 1: A Pokemon is a creature that is caught in a multicolored ball and is used in legal fighting against other Pokemon. There are different types of Pokemon that can be used as advantages to beat other pokemon. What I mean is that an electric type for example can do extra damage to a water type since water conducts electricity.
Note 2: These creatures can be weird and confusing when someone reads themso I'll try to explain what they are in parentheses.
Many years ago in the year 1996 in Japan the first generation of Pokemon games were released. These games were Pokemon Red, Blue, and Green(Green never actually was released in North America and was replaced with Blue). These were all the same game with a few differences. The main thing that set these games apart was that there were certain Pokemon that you could only get in one of the other games. The main objective in these games was to collect and train your Pokemon in order to defeat gym leaders to get badges. Once you had defeated all eight of them you could go to the Pokemon League to defeat the Elite Four. Also while your on this mission you have a rival that will fight you a few times. The reason he's such an annoyance is because he picks the opposite type of your Pokemon so he'll always have the advantage. You pick fire, he picks water, you pick water, he picks grass. This can be a real pain. Anyways a the game Pokemon Yellow was released which was just an upgraded version of the previous games with a few changes. One such change is that the player's starter Pokemon is a Pikachu(a yellow mouse-like creature that uses electricity)out with a different Pokemon following you.
Then a few years later the games Pokemon Gold and Silver were released. These games had new mechanics and a new list of new Pokemon in them, but they were still basically the same game. You still go around collecting Pokemon to use in fighting. You still have to beat all the gym leaders. You still have to fight the elite four. Everything is basically the same. Oh and to top it off Pokemon Crystal was released which is just an upgrade of gold and silver. It's just like how Pokemon yellow was an upgrade to Red, Blue, and Green.
In the following years the same thing kept happening. Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald(upgrade of Ruby and Sapphire), Firered, Leafgreen(these games were basically revamped versions of the first games that were released in the series). I left out a few games here because I want to put them into more detail a little further in this editorial.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are in our current time. these games are still basically the same game with some new mechanics.Oh and Pokemon Platinum was released not too long ago as an upgraded version of Diamond and Pearl. Also two new games are planned to be released that are called Pokemon Heartgold and SoulSilver. These games are remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver that again will just probably be upgrades so that are present generation can enjoy doing the same thing again except with less creatures to catch.
Some games I left out were the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. In these games you take a personality test to decide which Pokemon you would be. After that is done you play as a human that was apparently turned into a Pokemon in a world where everyone is a Pokemon. Then you set out on your quest to find out why your a are one of them. There are also all kinds of other Pokemon games that will continue to have sequels that are not needed.
There have also been trading card games, TV series', movies, and merchandise. Along with the games this forms a multi-billion dollar franchise. Nintendo will probably keep making these games until the company dies out(if it dies out). Nintendo is pretty smart about this though. They know that if they time everything right there will always be a new generation of people to be suckered into this franchise along with their loyal fans. Another problem is that a lot of people actually buy all of the versions of each game. I actually used to be one of them... I've actually bought Pokemon Firered, Leafgreen, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Yellow, Pearl, etc. However, I have seen the light and shall no longer be a part of this never-ending series of games. Leave it to Nintendo to milk a franchise for all it's worth...
Anyways, if you would, please post your thoughts about this travesty. Bye and have a nice day :D.
A few things...
by Toon_Link_Fan on Comments
1. I keep getting an error message every time I try to go to someone's blog, is anyone else having this problem?
2. I've probablymade too many blog posts today...
3. I'm most likely going to review two games later. They will be Kingdom Hearts II and the other one is currently unknown.
4. Is Gamespot dying? When I used to come here there was tons of activity and now there is slim to none most of the time...
5. I find it hilarious that Gamespot's spellchecker counts the word "Gamespot" as a misspelled word.
Oh and here's a random lolcat picture I made:
Bye and have a nice day :D.
