Look, if you have an addictive personality it really doesn't matter what you drug is, caffeine, beer, weed, exercise, coke, or games. I'm sure for some people gaming can be a big problem, I myself at times feel like I'm slipping away from the world while gaming for 20+ hours a week. But we all have addictions, and we all need to take responsibility for our addictions. Man up people and handle your business, be aware of your addiction and be in control. For those of you out there who don't feel addictions like gaming can be a problem, this article wasn't for you and your dismissive comments add nothing to the conversation.
If you have the room and the power supply, just get the 260, I just picked one up for 210.00 on newegg. Can't wait, I upgraded from a OC 6800. Now I need a new shiny game that isn't a FPS that can push the graphics of my new card. Any suggestions?
I agree with Tomaus99, but I believe that the standards for graphics has already been set with what a "next gen" game should look like. It's pointless to compare GTA4 with past GTA games. It should be compared to other games in this generation. And I don't think it comes close to DMC4, Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Burnout, Mass Effect, Folklore. But the more I wine about the crap graphics, the more I forget GTA4 is a fun game and worth playing. Graphics aren't everything, but for the money we all pay for consoles and games, it should be.
Wow! What makes this game a perfect 10? Gamespot must have been bought out, or the reviewer is a gta fan boy. It's not a bad game by any standards, but the graphics suck balls on any system, it just doesn't compare to Assassins Creed, Uncharted, Burnout, or even Mass Effect. And for the comment of not playing the game on the right TV, I have a 40 inch 1080p Sony Bravia, but that has nothing to do with a low polly model with lack luster textures. GTA has always looked like crap, it was about the game play not the graphics. I just wish this time around was different. Does anyone else get board after a few hours of game play at one time? Running around endlessly doing chores for people doesn't hold my interest for long. But I will say this game has the best soundtrack I've ever heard in any game. This game is worth owning, I just think a perfect score should be reserved for something new, something mind blowing. GTA4 is neither, I think the score is a high 8 or maybe even a 9 for the new multi player addition. Just don't insult me with a perfect 10.
Biggest mistake I ever made in my gaming life, was to not buy a PS2. I went with the original xbox and a game cube and Ive been pist ever since. I loved my cube, but my xbox collects dust and now it cant even read game disks. The only reason I haven't gone back and bought a PS2, is the fact that the PS3 will play all the games I missed. God of war comes to mind. And now it seems more than silly to complain about the price of the PS3, do you actually think if your a game lover like I am that in time you wont buy more than one console? So you wasted some money and bought the 360 when it was all hyped up. Fine get over it, now you can start saving and go out and buy that PS3 and love life again. Im only worried about not having a HD TV. And do we really need the 60BG harddrive? Im sure I will be more than fine with the 20GB. I mean I never touched the harddrive in the xbox. I play one or two game at a time then I trade those in for a new ones. I dont see the need for a collection, I just want to play games, beat them with perfection and move on.
Wow, why was the BFG 6800 GS OC, over looked? I just picked one up for 120 and I am playing Oblivion with high settings and HDR with no problems. And it has the 3.0 shader. I love my card, and it was super cheap. I think BFG makes the best stuff, and they will always give you a new card if anything happens, no questions asked.
Finally a Pentium that can silence the AMD fans. AMD is good for gaming but really nothing else. Im a core gamer but I also use my box for graphics design, video editing, and 3d rendering and AMD has always sucked in those fields. Now I can get the best of both worlds. But "Ouch" on the price tag.
