A Few Things

So I am sat here just finishing up at work and thought I would update everyone on whats going on, I have a few things in my mind that came up while listening to the BombCast so look out below for those.

Firstly, my purchase of NHL 09 that is released friday here in the UK has been put off until the end of the month. My laptop decided that for one final time it would show me what its made of with the blue screen of death, good bye my old friend.. Now considering my laptop is my one source to get online it takes prioroty over those other important things. I have a laptop ordered and will hopefully post a few pictures when it arrives, with a copy of Spore arriving friday all should be right with the world.

Now the games I need to pick up at the end of the month are NHL 09 and Star Wars: Force Unleashed, I think most of my time will be pumped in to Force Unleashed as it usually takes me a while to really start getting in to the sports genre games and Force Unleashed is probably higher on my list of most wanted than NHL.

OK, While listening to this weeks BombCast I had a thought. The first part of the cast is all about the Dreamcast and how it died so quickly, well, in the gaming world there are plenty of things that seem to get a lot of hype and then suddenly seem to just disappear. So I have a question for everyone, are there any games that come to mind that you heard/read about that you looked forward to but then suddenly disappeared? A few that pop in to my mind are B.C a caveman game that was at the time being developed by Peter Molyneux of Fable fame (I think thats right, atleast what I remember of it its right). Anywasy that game got shelved pretty late in development. Another is Stargate SG1: The Alliance, something that was given a major ad campaign and even features on the SG1 and Atlantis DVD sets at one point. Again due to different reasons it was shelved.

Now on to the one most common amongst Dreamcast users (See the link...;)) Shenmue 3. I really havent a clue what happened to Shenmue 3, they realese Shenmue 2 on Xbox and Dreamcast leaving the ending with a nice cliffhanger and then all goes quiet. Shenmue 3 is not mentioned for a long time, hoping people would forget about it. Shame as I would have loved to see the final chapter in the series.

Any thoughts? Other games you have looked forward tot hat have come up short or cut and never made?

Gamers Choices'

I post a blog now and again on another site, thought I would copy it here to keep my blog active..

September rolls around once a year, with it comes what is commonly known as the gaming season. Three months where the release calendar is full and pretty exciting. No matter what console you own, as long as you're in to gaming these next months can be a pretty busy time.

Personally I am a 360 gamer as many of you know; I love anything RPG orientated and love to find a new game I can get my teeth in to. Unfortunately more often than not the games of today fall short of what we expect, with less than adequate concentration on the main three vitals of a game (Story, Graphics and Game play) Manufacturers often concentrate on the one and leave the others in a dismal state.

In the RPG orientation I was finally bugged in to picking up 'Lost Odyssey' a game I had never got around to playing and not really ever considered. Coming in 4 discs the game boasts great visuals and some stunning cut scenes. The graphics are great, the cut scenes are great and plentiful (Which is something I enjoy) and the game play seems solid if somewhat unoriginal. Think Final Fantasy 10, with new characters and story with better graphics and that is all we have. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing, I loved playing FFX; the combat system was great and made this my favourite of the Final Fantasy series.

The mini-games on 'Lost Odyssey' often seem somewhat pointless although they do help to break up the flow a little. Also on a nice note there is a 'Thousand Years of Dreams' section, using your main character you must discover memories from the past forgotten by the passage of time. Memories come in the form of short stories and are an interesting twist and add an extra depth and understanding to characters. I am currently on disc 2 with around 20 hours game play, predictions have me finishing somewhere in the 45-50 hour mark so a solid game that could take longer should I stop along the way to get more.

Overall score: 7

Now on to the rest of the year, my favourite part!

A few games I am looking at and am pretty sure to pick up, although I try to spread each purchase out to allow a decent play time some get purchased within days of each other...

In no real order I am going to start with the one fresh in my mind,

1.Star Wars: Force Unleashed
2.Far Cry 2
3.Fallout 3
4.Infinite Undiscovery
5.Fable 2
6.Gears OF War 2
7.Alan Wake (Should it ever be released)
8.Mercenaries 2
9.Call of Duty: World at War
10.Spider Man Web of Shadows

There are a few missing from that lists, but those come from the top of my head. Usually what I do is buy an RPG, put a load of time in to getting most of it done and then to have a break from solid play I would buy something a little easier going.

Currently Guitar Hero 3 is sucking up a lot of my time when I am not playing 'Lost Odyssey'. Never really had much time for this when I first picked it up but is fast becoming a great stress reliever when I get home from work, I even have my girlfriend playing a few Co-op games with me!

Anyways, Drop me a line anytime. My gamer tag is Casey Hale. So feel free to add me. Comments always appreciated!

My First Editorship!

Ok, the title almost says it all.. Except I now have my first and secodn editorship in the same day. I was pretty excited when I got the messages, to say the least! Taken a while and Im really happy that I got Brian Blessed and Scott Bakula as they are two of my favourite actors.
Also due to getting the editorships and some mass submittiing I went from 91 percent of level 10 to 65 percent of level 11 so a big major jump! Whoo!
In other news Wimbledon started this week, I catch some of it on the BBC in the mornings but have been working so ill catch up on the weekend. Shouldbe a good tournemant, hopefully we can have a Brit last longer than the second round..
Hope everyones enjoying there week!

One day... Ill be trusted..

Thought I would put out a short blog as im bored at work..

So far this month I have gone up like two levels, putting me 41 percent through level 10. I have been heavily submitting on The X-Files. Mostly quotes I pick up when going through and watching the season again slowly, it was a great 9 year run and im enjoying quoting it. My target is to get on the top contributors wall and one day get a trusted for the show.

Today I wrote a bio for Brian Blessed, a great British actor with a lot of talent. I also added a few qoutes so I will see where I am with those once they go live! Being bored at work has done wonders for my TV.com level and I am around alot more than I used to be, the sight has caught my interest once again and I cant stay away.

I want to get level 11 and 12 pretty soon, although its not a bother if I dont. If anyone ever wants to catch me Im often around the Lost forums discussing what season 5 is going to be like!

Lost, easy ways of falling in to a coma of questions..

Wierd title I know but wanted to start as I meaned to go on..:P

This Blog will probably be split in to a few sections of the review of Losts Season 4. I want to section everything in to clear groups and it may take more time than I have! I am going to start with a run through of characters and performances that deserve mention then move on to episodes and scenes that are worth a mention.

Outstanding Characters Top 5.

Jack Sheppard - Played by Mathew Fox. There are a lot of Jack haters in the world and being fair some times his whining b****iness bugs me and makes me want toi slap him. In many ways he tries to step away from the group in season 4 often dropping his crown as leader and doing what he feels is right. This leads to a lot of confrontation and angst among the survivors of 815, on top of finding out the boat may not actually be here to rescue them Jack often confuses and angers people with his indecisive and combative mood swings. Acting was a solid performance, his best parts where often where we see him off the island in the new format 'Flash forwards'.

James 'Saywer' Ford - Played by Josh Holloway. In a lot of ways taking the comic crown that Hurley had rightly claimed over the last three seasons, his wit and banter with the entire island has often lifted the mood on any dire situation. Although missing out of some of the lime light due to not getting off the island, his screen time was well used and he never went by unoticed.

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes - Played by Jorge Garcia. I think even though there is a lot of hype about how Micheal Emerson was great, people often forget about the fun loving Hurley. Before season 4 Hurley was widely underused and often stuck somewhere where comic relief was needed, he played his roles all along the first three seasons and played them well, it wasnt until season 4 that he was given his chance to shine. Placed between two great actors(Terry O'Quinn and Micheal Emerson) Hurley was forced along on a trek to find Jacob. Suddenly he was in the lime light, people beside him that would soon be able to claim some of the best acting Lost has ever seen. Instead of shrinking Hurley forced his way forward and really put in a stellar performance for the last half of the season, going from to strength in each scene.

John Locke - Played by Terry O'Quinn. Locke has always been a favourite of mine, although when the first season started I questioned Terry O'Quinn as the best choice to play an obvious central character. No doubt Locke went on to have a steadily solid three seasons, never outshining others but puttingin solid performances and bringing his own quirkiness to each situation, often drawn back by his 'faith' in what he believed was right he came across as strange and unwaivering mostly off putting to the viewer and island alike. Season 4 was a strong season, following some great opportunity's to have a good banter with characters such as Ben and Hurley, plus a good confrontation with Jack which stands out as something I see coming in the last two seasons.

Benjamin Linus - Played by Micheal Emerson. Ben really came in to his own in season three, adding to an already strong cast with well developed characters he jumped straight in and made himself know, yet staying somewhere in the middle as far as performance go. Then in season 4 as with other characters he shone and by far gave the best performance of the season, maybe of the entire series. The second half of the season allowed him to how the diversity of the character and the the pure evil in his heart while still holding compassion for his daughter and from what it seems John Locke.

Worth a mention: Sun/Jin combination, Kate and Sayid and the new characters Frank, Miles and Daniel.

Fight scene: The scene in the finale where we see a show down between Sayid and Keamy, something I have seen brewing for the entire season. A great scene where both characters really get in to it before it becomes interupted and Keamy gets shot:P

Next blog I will run down my top favourite episodes and moments of the season, dont go to far!!

An Argument, A video and a review.

The Argument

As I was leaving my second showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull I over heard a comment of the guy in front of me that was something along the lines of - 'It was a good film, but the ending got a little complex' I politely asked him why and he went on to explain reasons as to what he thought. Basically he wanted a film to be over and done with once you leave, not having to think about it at all in the future or have an open ending.

-Spoilers-

So, I am a great Indy fan and yes. I will agree the film went on a bit of a tangent and there are some major plot holes with the plot. Also the obvious use of stunt doubles through the entire film that really looked nothing like the stars annoyed me. Over all 7.5 out of 10. But what I did like was Spielberg/Lucas werent afraid to go after the film they wanted to do. They had this plot in mind for a long time and I think it came off rather well. My first question of the day is 'Why can people except that Indiana Jones found the holy grail, yet he cannot uncover a mystery about aliens and conspiracies?

The Major problem people are having with this film is that it was a sci fi film. Right at the end where the ship takes off sets in ston the fact people are going to B**** about it until the cows come home, so alot of respect to Spielberg/Lucas for taking the step, knowing it would get critised widely and still going ahead with there vision.

Also as you may have noticed the writing is a little sloppy. Im really tired and struggling to sleep at the moment.

The Video

NCIS - All For one

A touching NCIS video that I found on another blog. Thought I would post it for all to see so we can all miss NCIS together.

The Review

4 Years, Six Months, 2 days - One Tree Hill Season 5 Review

In my opinion it took a lot of guts and held a lot of risk jumping the then teen drama of the small town of Tree Hill past there college years and giving us a look at what life was like for them out in the real world. There have been a few us and downs within the season itself, but overall there risk was worth it and the show has moved on to an entirely different level. Something I believe could not have been reached if the jump hadnt been made.

Lucas almost gets married, Nathan almost cheats on Hayley, Brooke almost adopts and Dan Almost kills someone. As you can see it has been a season of 'almosts'. Over all I would give the season 8 out of 10.

How could this review go through without a mention of little James Lucas Scott? It couldnt! Nathan and Hayleys son was always there in times wheen comic relief was needed and really helped develop the character 'Skillz' Taylor. His duet at the beginning of the season finale will go down as one of the best songs sung on the entire show.See it Here..

Dan has always been a character I have wanted to hate. He killed Keith and messed up both Lucas and Nathans lives. We see his heart condition take a turn for the worse as everyone is given a look in to the emotional side of Dan. Nobody knows what to feel as he hugs Jamie as we have all seen what he does and has done in the past. The season finale saw him turn a new leaf. Almost as if he is repenting and wanting to do better with his life.. We will see! As he leaves the hospital a car slams him to the ground. The camera pans and his transplant beeper begins to ring.. Is this the last we see of Dan Scott?

Now the real question on everyones mind, who did Lucas ask to marry him? I have no Idea! But I would like to think it was Brooke. I have always been a Brucas fan and would love to see them together for the next season.

Kind of a strange scrambled up review I know, but as I said im tired! Kick me if I missed anything!

RIP Mark Speight

Thought I would share this with everyone, I grew up watching shows like SMart and See it, saw it. It is always a shame when it comes to this

--

TV presenter Mark Speight was found hanged on the roof of a building next to Paddington railway station, British Transport Police have said.

Station staff found the 42-year-old's body hanging from the roof of MacMillan House in west London on Sunday morning.

The body, which has yet to be formally identified, was out of public view.

Mr Speight, who was said to have been devastated by the death of his fiancee Natasha Collins in January, had been missing for a week.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held on Tuesday and an inquest into Mr Speight's death is expected to be opened on Wednesday, police said.

Mr Speight was last seen on CCTV boarding a southbound Bakerloo line Underground train from Queens Park station.

Later that day he was reported missing when he failed to meet Ms Collins' mother for coffee in Covent Garden.

Mr Speight's 31-year-old fiancee died on 3 January after taking cocaine, sleeping tablets and alcohol.

She was found with 60% burns from hot water in the bath at the couple's flat in St John's Wood, north-west London.

An inquest recorded a verdict of death by misadventure.

Following her death Mr Speight, who was said to be in a "fragile state of mind", had moved in with Ms Collins' mother.

Paying tribute to his son, Oliver Speight said: "Mark was a wonderful son and brother to his family and he will be very sadly missed."

Stu Goldsmith, 42, who had known Mr Speight since they met at school in Wolverhampton said the presenter blamed himself for Ms Collins' death.

Stu Goldsmith pays tribute to his friend Mark Speight

"There was a funny side to Mark but also a sensitive side. I knew him and Natasha absolutely idolised each other, they were the perfect couple.

"Even though he had been released by the police, Mark was still walking around London blaming himself for the death of Natasha.

"He was on a different wavelength. We gave it our best shot to find him. What has happened is a tragedy."

Mr Speight's agent, Jan Kennedy of Billy Marsh Associates, said: "We are absolutely devastated at the tragic news of the loss of Mark and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family as well as the family of his beloved fiancee, Natasha, whose equally tragic death had affected him so inconsolably."

Looking Forward

After a crazy winter of wondering whether TV will ever be the same again the strike finally came to an end. But what of the TV shows that every one loved and wanted more of? Some return with numerous episodes running out a shortened season (Lost, for example). Yet some still hang in the balance. TV shows that I am sure would have continued on before the strike happened but now because of what ever reason there life now hangs in the balance(The Unit).

So now we are looking at a bright 2008-2009 season full of our favourites returning to our screen. But what are the shows you guys are looking forward to? What is it that will have you glued to the TV after the summer, maybe its a new show like the returning Knight Rider or maybe its an old favourite like NCIS or Lost.

Its been a while

So..

It seems as if an age has passed since i last posted here. Oh, wait. It has. Over the summer work has completely swamped me and getting any time to breathe has been hard. Let alone keep up with things on the net.

So now im back, what am i watching? Whats got my fancy and what hasnt? Well..

Seans Top Tv Shows.

1.NCIS - Always a favourite, continuing on from the cliff hanger left in the last season this tv series continues going from strength to strength.

2.The Unit - What can I say? A show about the Elite Delta Force. With accurate termenology and great acting, with the strength of dennis Haysburt behind it. It rocks.

3.Smallville - I have loved superman since i was a child. This series, although messing with the time line has taken me in. I love everything about it. In my opinion, Tom welling should have played superman in the recent movie..

4.Lost - Although the new season has yet to start, i await the start of the new season hopefully answering some of those long lingering questions.

5.Prison Break - Wow! I was recently lent the first season of this show because i never had a chance to watch it. What can I say? I was drawn in and could get out, and didnt want to! With an underlying conspiracy i cant wait to move on to season 2 and then get up to the current season 3.

6.Heroes - Heroes is - Heroes. Much like the 4400 there is a story there we do not know about. the 4400 was the original heroes which i love. People with powers, with a feel of the personnel levels and commitments made by real people to save our way of life.

Although not in any order, these Tv series are definately worth a look if you have not already checked them out. Drop me a message and let me know what you think about my choices!
